GazelleA Poem by Hasan669This is my attempt at a 'free verse' poem, about the Thomson's Gazelle that is well known in Kenya. I have a deep affection for this herbivore. In my adolescence, I stroked the face of one of them.Gazelle Antlers
in a pair pointing up, then back A slender face it slopes forward with black lines each side The graceful creature roams across the savanna plains that grows high to the knees Slender gazelle, so tender as it grazes on the grass When danger is sensed, it runs and runs and runs. It cannot always escape, the predators in hiding. A beauty of the grasslands, it will be missed if it dies. No day, no night is safe from predators hungry, wild Yet the gazelle lives on its graceful form forever etched in annals of history © 2019 Hasan669Author's Note
