A Time When

A Time When

A Poem by Zachary
"

Partly inspired by Breton and by Neruda. An attempt at surreal poetry with a hint of melancholy. Based on a true story.

"
Do you remember when..?
And then she died.
The memory became marshmallow and jelly.
Do you remember when..?
Until she died,
and your search for self finished in the bar.
And when she died...
do you remember
how your heart became sheep's liver,
and I ate it?

Do you remember...
when she died?
And the stars stopped and the world stopped and I stopped
shaving.

Do you remember when the world started again?
When the sun rose for the first time?
Not yet...
night is waving a solemn goodbye.

that pain can be impossible to get over...the world stops and just won't restart...neither will the heart.

you hinted well at the melancholy, but really gave us more that life that she gave the speaker...

A melancholic yet sensitive piece, remembering such 'sweet sorrow' . True stories often make the best fiction.. and poetry.
