The Chair Leg and the Floor

The Chair Leg and the Floor

A Story by The Intuitive Harvester

Hey! Hello!  The chair leg cried downward.
Oh, hi. . . said the floor.
Would you like to be friends?  asked the chair leg.
The floor pondered, assessed and answered. I one day hope to have a friend but alas I cannot love. Anyone.
Oh. . . said the chair leg.
Hey, I think we know each other, said the chair leg.
What are you talking about? said the floor.
I recognize you. You were a man once.  You had dark hair that was bouncy and quite curly.
I don't care about that right now, said the floor.
What do you care about? asked the chair leg.
All I want is to be anything else but this floor, said the floor.
Oh. . . said the chair leg.
Wait, I do know you, chair leg, said the floor.  You were a woman once, short with blonde hair.
Yes, I think that is correct, said the chair leg.
You were the cause of all my problems back then, said the floor.
The chair leg decided not to feel anything about this.  It had earned the right to be a chair leg in this lifetime.
I think, you weren't very happy then either, said the chair leg.
Get off my back!  said the floor.
