Ceiling

Ceiling

A Poem by Charles Chukwuani

It is so bland,
it does naught but stare
and glare
and entrap him,
could it not disappear?
And let his eyes embrace the sun
as it empowers him with golden might,
and let his gaze dance with the moon,
while the night twinkles in starry delight?
Ugly ceiling,
caging his being,
caging his feelings,
caging his meaning!
If nothing else
could it not fall?

In a literal sense, it's totally true: ceilings are ugly. Poetically, it seems to be speaking of the limits we hem ourselves in with.
