Marry AnnaA Poem by Charles Chukwuani
I close my eyes
and for a few seconds, it's beautiful. I'm back home in Sayreville watching the painter guy paint while my mom bakes pies and I make paper airplanes with the painter's daughter. Anna. Her laughter like sunlight growing flowers in a young boy's heart but he was too short too skinny and too scared to gather the bouquet and hand them to her; so he just sat and dreamed about a world where he would marry Anna. But then I find myself in the Mariana the deepest depths of the sea of my mind drowning without a single ray of light in sight and the heart's flowers have all died.
