The Moment

The Moment

A Poem by Charles Chukwuani

You can see it, can't you?
The moment that changed you.

It hangs, suspended in memory,

like an iron ball,

floating in mercury.

Reaching for it is futile.

Amidst a monsoon,

it is but a single raindrop,

as impossible to grasp as the moon.

It does not apologize,

for the torment of the mind,

that it does so brutally agonize.

Infuriating by nature.

The blood, oh how fiercely it sears,

pulse raging, eyes maddened,

leaking boiling tears.

If only that moment could return,

perhaps then your aching heart,

no longer would it burn!

Unchangeable, like all things past.

A glimpse of hope, there could be recourse for you,

if you could take that one changing moment

and re-create it anew.

I loved this poem. It is so beautifully tragic and I loved how you wrote it. I am suprised you haven't had more reviews on this. You did a great job!
