The Bystander Effect

The Bystander Effect

A Poem by Charles Chukwuani

His car spun out of control,
Rammed into the tree at full speed,
Maybe he was in a rush to get home,
See his kids,
See their smiles,
And as they drive on past him nobody dials,
911,
Because that's someone else's problem,
Surely someone else will help him,
Even if they don't.

Only fools believe in the empathy of others.
