Chapter 15

Chapter 15

A Chapter by Chris

The rest of the weekend went by somewhat fast. I never told Jack my answer on whether or not I wanted to ride with him, partly because I forgot. Whenever I did happen to remember though, I told myself I would do it later, trying to hold off on calling him because I knew it would be way too difficult for me to do so with the way I felt towards him. By the time Monday morning came, I realized that I never told him, but it was kind of too late now because he was probably still asleep and I didn't want to wake him. Not like it probably mattered though because I'm sure he already knew the answer since I never called him.

“How's come you didn't ride with me to school?” Jack questioned. “You never even called to give me an answer either.”

We were currently at my locker. I was putting the things I needed for my first few classes into my backpack while Jack stood to the left of me with his side leaning against the lockers beside mine.

“Sorry, I forgot,” I answered as I zipped up my backpack and slung it onto my back.

“Okay, that's fine I guess. You can ride home with me if you want though.”

        “No, it's okay.”

        “You sure?”

        “Yeah.”

“C'mon, just one time. You might like it better than the bus.”

I looked towards him a little and saw the somewhat sad look on his face. Unable to look at him any longer, I looked towards my locker before closing it.

“Sorry, but I have to stay after school today,” I lied as I looked somewhere else as if something caught my eye.

“I could wait for you. I could just stay in the library or something until you're ready to go.”

“No, don't bother doing that,” I said as I tried to look back towards him. When our eyes met though, I had to look away as a surge of nervousness pulsed through me and my heart skipped a beat. “Besides, my mom will be picking me up and I don't want to call her while she's at work. She hates it when I do that.”

        “Okay, then maybe tomorrow?”

“Maybe,” I replied with a shrug.

Jack sighed. “Look, if you don't want to ride with me, then just say no.”

I looked towards him, a little startled by hearing what he said. It made me feel a little bad now. I couldn't ride with him though. It was just too hard sitting there with him when I had such strong feelings towards him. Heck, I could even feel my legs starting to get a little weak from just standing there near him.

I sighed. “Sorry, I'll just stick with the bus.”

He slowly nodded before looking down towards the ground a little. I hated it. I wanted to kick myself for upsetting him like this. However, I didn't try to stay around any longer. It was becoming too hard to. I turned around and started to walk off, but he started to walk beside me.

“By the way,” he began, seemingly no longer upset, “some girl in my grade is having a party at her house on Friday. I was wondering if you wanted to go.”

I was a little surprised to hear this.

“I'm not really much of the party type,” I said without having to give it much thought. It was true after all.

“Come on, go just this once,” he replied. “You never know, you might actually like it. And if you don't, I swear I won't ask you again.”

“I don't know,” I said, still unsure about it.

“Please,” he begged as he stepped in front of me. “If you won't ride with me to and from school, the least you could do is go to the party with me. I mean, we haven't even really done that much together lately.”

He was right, but that was pretty much my fault. It was just too hard to be around him for too long. I stood there and took the idea into consideration though. Maybe going to a party wouldn't be too bad? Not like I would necessarily be around Jack all the time while I was there, right?

“Okay, I guess I'll go,” I said a few seconds later.

“Awesome!” he said, smiling some. “I promise that you won't regret it.” He clapped me on the arm a little as if to assure me.

I just hoped he would keep his promise.

Chris
Another short chapter, but I didn't really have too much planned for this one either, and I wasn't really sure if I wanted to put the actual party scene in this chapter or just put it in a separate one.

lol. I think that Jay's character is too up tight. Denying nearly all the chances he has to be alone with Jack. It was a good thing that he finally said freaking yes for a change. Anyway, good work so far.

Well it's a cliff hanger. Which is good. It makes people want to keep reading to see what's going to happen next. I didn't really see anything wrong so keep up the good work.
