Chapter 30A Chapter by Chris
The following day, Alex had the house to himself while his parents went off somewhere. It was around late morning and Alex was sitting on the couch watching television with nothing else to do. However, even though his eyes were on the screen, his mind was elsewhere. Sean never came over last night and it bothered Alex some. It definitely wasn't like Sean to miss plans they made. If anything usually did come up to where he couldn't come over, Sean usually somehow contacted him. A phone call was never received though and there wasn't any emails from the dark-haired boy. As Alex thought about it more, he started to get a bad feeling at the pit of his stomach. He tried to expel these horrible possibilities, not liking the idea of something like that happening to Sean. Instead Alex just hoped that Sean maybe forgot or something. It was definitely a better alternative than the ones that popped up in his mind every few seconds. About ten minutes later, the doorbell rang. Alex pushed himself off the couch and walked over to the door to open it. Standing there on the other side was Sean. A smile appeared on Alex's face, but it quickly faded when he saw the cut that was on the side of Sean's face and the black eye. “Hey,” Sean greeted. “What happened to you?” Alex asked in a worried manner, skipping the formalities as he looked Sean up and down for any other signs of injuries, though he didn't notice any. “I'll tell you, but can we sit down first?” Alex nodded. He stepped to the side to allow the younger male to enter before closing the door behind him. They moved over to the couch and took a seat. The concerned look never left Alex's face as he looked towards Sean, who began to explain what happened last night. It was all a bit of a blur to him though, so he wasn't able to give real good details about everything. “Who did it?” Alex asked when Sean finished, a hint of anger in his voice. “I'll beat them into a bloody pulp for this!” “I don't know,” said Sean. “It's all kind of a blur to me. All I remember is someone attacking and shouting at me.” “But you are okay though, right?” “Yeah. A little sore, but I'm fine.” Alex sighed, not saying anything else. He was infuriated by this. There was such a strong urge for him to track down whoever did this and give them hell for it. An arm was then wrapped around his shoulders. The brown-haired boy looked towards Sean to see him smiling at him. Alex smiled back before scooting closer to the shorter boy. Sean rested his head on Alex's shoulders and closed his eyes for a little bit. The whole ordeal that took place the night before didn't bother Sean at the moment. He was with Alex and that was all that really mattered to him right now. He felt Alex's fingers brush against his cheek – the one that hadn't been sliced last night. His eyes reopened and he lifted his head to look at Alex. The two stared into each other's eyes for a moment before they leaned in and kissed each other on the lips. Alex caressed the other male's cheek as both of their eyes closed. Sean pressed his tongue against Alex's lips until they parted, allowing it to enter. His met with Alex's and their tongues danced in a rhythmic motion for seconds that seemed to stretch into hours. They slowly pulled away, grinning at each other afterwards. The two sat there and watched television with each other for about fifteen minutes. Afterwards, Sean slowly rose from the couch. Alex looked up at him with a questioning look on his face. “I have to go get ready for work,” Sean said. “You sure you should be going after something like that happened?” Alex asked. “I'll be fine,” Sean assured him. “Let me walk with you,” said Alex. “I don't feel comfortable with you walking by yourself.” Sean opened his mouth in protest, but was soon grabbed by the hand and led to the door. The two walked out. Once they stepped off the porch, Alex relinquished his grip on Sean's hand and the two walked side by side. They talked a little as they made their way to Sean's house. When they finally got there, Sean cut across the yard and climbed up the wooden porch steps. He looked towards Alex, who was now walking away, before entering the house. “Where have you been?” Aunt Kathy questioned in a slightly worried and angered manner. “I went to Alex's,” Sean answered as he made his way towards the stairs. “You need to be careful about walking the streets!” his aunt advised a little sternly. “You just came home from the hospital and I don't want to see you going back there again so soon!” “Sorry,” apologized Sean almost indifferently. “I wanted to see Alex.” Aunt Kathy didn't say anything right away, but instead let out a heavy sigh of relief. “Just don't scare me like that again,” she told him. “You nearly gave me a heart attack when I couldn't find you anywhere around the house.” Sean nodded before saying, “I'm going to get ready for work.” “No, you can just stay home. You should let yourself rest a little.” “I'm fine. I'm perfectly able to work.” “It won't kill you to take a couple days off of work, Sean. After everything that has happened last night, it would probably be best that you just sat down and relaxed for a while.” “Okay, fine. I won't go then.” Sean just headed up to his room, not saying another word. © 2008 Chris |
