Chapter 26

Chapter 26

A Chapter by Chris

The following day, Sean was better, which meant he was able to go to school. Unfortunately, Alex never came, probably thinking that he was still sick, and so Sean was stuck taking the bus instead. Once they arrived at school, Sean got off the bus and headed into the building.

As he made his way down the halls, he noticed some people were snickering at him while others gave him cold and disgusted looks. This didn't really bother him in the slightest though and he just made his way to his locker. After opening the locker, he got down on his knees and started to switch the things that were in his backpack and locker. It wasn't long though until the Sophomore boys that usually picked on him walked over.

“Hey look, it's the queer,” one of them pointed out.

Sean froze in his place as though his brain had to completely register what he said. How did they know about him being gay? Did Alex somehow slip about them being in love when he was talking to Vincent? It was really the only other explanation. No one was around when they kissed each other on the stairs, so they couldn't have found out from that.

“Doesn't look like he heard you Doug,” one of the other boys said.

“Probably too busy thinking about his boyfriend,” a third added.

“Just get out of my way,” the boy said before pushing Sean out of the way with his foot.

Sean watched the boy shut his locker door before looking up at him with a slightly angered look on his face.

“Oh, I'm sorry, did I ruin your shirt?” the boy said before mimicking with a lisp, “Oh no! My shirt is ruined! I'm going to have to go home and wash it to get this awful dirt off of it!”

They all roared with laughter. Sean just stood up, got his backpack, and started to walk off. If he was having this kind of trouble, he was sure that Alex was too. He made his way over to the Junior hall. When he neared Alex's locker, he saw a group of boys calling him names while pushing him around a little.

After being pushed once more, Alex stormed off down the hall at a quick pace. Sean sighed before going after him, shooting a glare towards the boys as he passed them. The brown-haired boy was going a bit too fast, so Sean wasn't really able to catch up to him. He watched as Alex turned to enter the stair room. Sean sped up just a wee bit more and when he entered it, he looked down at the flight of stairs. Alex wasn't in sight. Sean quickly walked down the steps and looked to see Alex sitting underneath the staircase. The dark-haired boy slowly walked over and sat down next to the taller male.

        “Everyone knows,” Alex said quietly.

“I know,” Sean said, using the same quiet tone of voice as Alex. “They know about me being gay too.”

        Alex looked a little surprised.

        “How?”

“I don't know. Did you say anything about us to Vincent Friday?”

“No. Vincent said he didn't tell anyone.”

And then it dawned on them.

        “The mall,” Sean said.

        They both sighed.

“How could we be so stupid?” Alex said. “We should've known someone at school would've spotted us together at the mall.” There was a pause. “I'm sorry Sean. You've already been through enough as it is and now you have to get picked on too.”

“It's partly my fault too,” Sean told him. “And besides, I've been picked on plenty of times before, so this isn't really anything new to me.”

Alex sighed again and put his hands over his eyes. Sean looked towards him for a moment before putting a comforting arm around the older boy's shoulders. Alex uncovered his eyes to look at Sean.

“Just try not to let it get to you too much,” Sean told him. “If they don't see that it's bothering you, then maybe they'll stop?”

        “Maybe.”

Alex looked down towards the floor a little. Sean slowly reached his other hand up and placed it on Alex's cheek. The brown-haired boy slowly turned his head to look at Sean, who was smiling a little while stroking Alex's cheek a bit with his thumb. Alex couldn't help but to smile a little himself.

“I love you,” Sean told him.

“I love you too,” Alex said back.

After a second or two, the two slowly leaned forward to kiss each other on the lips. Their eyes fluttered close as Alex wrapped his arms around the black-haired boy. Sean pressed his tongue against Alex's lips until they parted to allow entrance. His tongue slid inside to explore every inch of the brown-haired boy's mouth. Alex let out a small moan as they continued. After a few moments, they slowly pulled away, smiling at each other. The bell rang shortly after.

“Guess we should head to class,” Sean said.

        “Yeah,” muttered Alex.

They slowly stood up. After giving each other one final kiss, they went up the stairs. The two parted ways shortly afterwards.

The first three classes rolled by at a steady pace. Both of them were picked on quite a bit. Sean didn't let it get to him, partly because he was pretty well used to being picked on a lot. Alex tried not to, but there were times when he was upset by them.

Sean was making his way to his fourth period class. Since the stair room was always usually empty, it meant Sean would be able to get to his class sooner. Once he reached it, he walked in to see the Sophomore boys calling Alex names while pushing him around. One last push was given to the brown-haired boy, which caused him to fall onto his butt against the wall. An upset look was on his face as he stared up at the boys, who were now looking at Sean.

“Hey look, it's his lover!” one of the boys pointed out.

“Get away from him!” Sean said coldly.

After walking towards them, Sean shoved the boy away from Alex. The boy, who looked a little surprised by this, pushed Sean back. Out of retaliation and anger, Sean threw a fist straight to the boy's face. All of the boys looked at Sean coldly now. They all closed in on him and started to throw punches at him.

“Get off of him!” Alex yelled.

He shot up into a stand and pushed the boys away from Sean. They looked at Sean, and then at Alex, furious looks on their faces.

“C'mon, let's get away from these f**s,” one of the boys said.

They left now, leaving Sean and Alex by themselves. A sigh of relief escaped Alex's mouth before he looked towards Sean, who had a bloody lip and a swollen cheek.

“You okay?” he asked the dark-haired boy.

“I'm fine,” Sean answered. “What about you? They didn't hurt you too badly did they?”

“No,” Alex replied. “Just pushed me around and called me names is all.”

“Good, 'cause if they did I'd kill them,” he muttered a little angrily.

Alex smiled a little before wrapping his arms around Sean, who slowly hugged back.

        “Thanks for helping,” Alex said.

“Of course,” Sean replied. “Wasn't going to stand there and let them push you around like that.”

Alex pulled away now and softly smiled down at Sean.

“We should probably go clean the blood off your face,” suggested Alex.

“I can do that myself,” Sean said. “Go ahead and go to class. No sense in both of us being late.”

Alex gave a small nod of his head. The two headed up the stairs before parting ways like they did earlier that day.

Ok, you've got a great thing going, that their each other's champion. However, I would like to say, that you could include a part, where they get new friends. Someone on their side. There is always a minority that accepts the minority and tries to protect them. This could be a new kid, or a group of misfits. Also, Sean and Alex would fit in with the misfits. These misfits don't have to be emo, or goth, they can just be a few normal looking kids. You could introduce it by having the one of the people from the misfits stick up for the two in the middle of a fight, in the middle of class, outside of school, anywhere really. And these misfits don't have to be within the school, they can be kids from other schools.
