Chapter 24

Chapter 24

A Chapter by Chris

The following school week was going by pretty quickly for Sean and Alex. Since they weren't able to see each other that much during the week, they tried to make the best out of lunch and the car rides home. It wasn't much since they couldn't show love towards one another during school hours, but it was the best they could do.

It was now Friday. Third period had just ended and Alex and Vincent were heading to their next classes. Since both of them had their classes on the floor above them, they decided to walk together. They walked down the hall to get to the nearest set of stairs.

“Hey, I'm going to the mall tonight to meet these two hot girls,” Vincent began as they neared a door that led to a set of stairs that was hardly ever used. “You should come.”

Alex didn't answer right away as he opened the doors and made his way to the stairs. As he slowly climbed the stairs, his gym shoes made tapping sounds on the steps, which could easily be heard due to the silence of the empty stair room. He had already planned to go to the mall with Sean later after school.

“Sorry, but I got other plans,” Alex told the other male.

        “Like what?” asked Vincent.

“Have to work on an English paper that's due Monday,” lied Alex, not wanting to tell Vincent the real reason.

“Are you crazy?” Vincent asked, looking at Alex as though he was. “You have all weekend to do that.”

“It's a huge paper and I still need to do a lot of research on it. If I don't start doing a little bit of it tonight, I might not get it done.”

“Sure,” Vincent said sarcastically before smirking a little. “I know what it is. You don't like girls. You like guys instead.”

Alex didn't catch the fact that Vincent was only joking about what he said. Being ahead of him on the stairs, Alex quickly spun around to face Vincent, a slightly fearful and worried look on his face.

“What are you talking about?” Alex said defensively. “I'm not gay.”

Vincent looked at Alex with a shocked expression on his face. He wasn't really that bright, but even he was able to tell when someone was being overly defensive about something. His jaw was slightly dropped as he eyed Alex.

“You – you really are – “ Vincent began, unable to complete the sentence.

Alex faked a laugh before saying, “I was only kidding.”

“I can tell you're lying,” Vincent said.

Alex mentally cursed at this, knowing that there was probably no way he could get out of it now. He was probably as bad of a liar as Sean was if not worse. A sigh escaped his mouth.

“Yeah, I am,” Alex admitted quietly. “Please don't tell anyone.”

Vincent just looked at Alex in a slightly disgusted way. He shook his head a little before turning around and quickly heading out the door. Alex stood there on the step he was on for a moment before falling into a sitting position, heaving forth a heavy sigh.

A couple seconds later, Sean walked in. As he did so, his eyes went straight to Alex. Alex looked back at him for a moment before looking down in a saddened manner. Sean slowly climbed up the stairs until he was one or two steps away from the sitting boy.

“Something wrong?” the dark-haired boy asked with concern in his voice.

“Vincent knows that I'm gay,” replied Alex.

Alex looked down at the stairs for a moment before slowly looking up at Sean. A mixture of anger, surprise, and worry could be seen on the younger male's face. His mouth opened, and then closed as he gathered and lost words to say.

“What did you do that for?” Sean finally asked a little angrily and worriedly.

“I didn't mean to!” Alex replied. “He called me gay and I guess he was joking about it. I didn't realize it and by the time I screwed up, it was already too late.”

Sean didn't say anything else, but just sighed. Alex looked down towards the stairs again.

“Well, maybe he won't tell anyone?” Sean said a couple seconds later.

“Maybe,” was the only thing Alex could say.

Sean looked down towards the brown-haired boy. A hand slowly reached out and stroked Alex's cheek a little. Alex slowly looked up at Sean and his lips curved into a small smile. Sean smiled back, his a bit small as well.

“Try not to worry about it,” Sean told him. “We need to get to class anyway.”

        “Alright.”

Sean's hand dropped to his side as Alex slowly got to his feet. The two stared at each other for a moment before Alex looked around a little. There wasn't anyone else around. Alex looked back at the smaller boy before leaning forward and kissing him on the lips. Their eyes closed as their lips remained locked. After a few seconds, they slowly pulled away before heading up the stairs to get to their next class.

The rest of that school day went by at a steady pace. Alex was still a little worried about Vincent telling everyone about him being gay. However, as the day progressed, the fear of everyone knowing about his sexuality slowly left him. Word didn't seem to have gotten out because surely he probably would've heard people talking about it or someone probably would've made fun of him for it by now.

When school was over, Sean and Alex went straight to the mall. After driving for a good twenty minutes or so, they finally reached it. Alex parked the car and the two got out of it before heading towards the large building before them. Once inside, they walked around the mall hand in hand. They were given a few stares by nearby people, but they ignored them.

After walking around for a while, it wasn't long until they came to a small photo booth that sat up against the wall. Deciding to get their picture taken, they climbed inside. Once the few pictures were taken, they climbed back out and Alex took the pictures. He tore one off of the strip, which was of Alex kissing Sean on the cheek.

“You can have this one,” he told the younger boy as he held it out.

“Okay,” Sean said as he took the picture and slipped it into his pocket for now. “What about the other ones?”

        “They're mine!” Alex chirped.

“That's not fair! I want more than just this one!”

        “Oh well!”

        “C'mon, give me another one!”

Alex laughed some as he moved the strip of pictures out of Sean's reach. The boy tried to move forward to snatch at them, but to only have Alex place a hand on his forehead to keep him from doing so. Sean flailed his arms forward, trying to get the pictures. Alex slipped the photos in his pocket and let his hand fall from Sean's forehead. Sean fell forward into Alex, who wrapped his arms around him.

“Careful, don't want to fall do you?” Alex said before giving a chuckle.

Sean laughed a little too as he wrapped his arms around Alex. The two remained in each other's arms for a couple seconds before they slowly pulled away from each other, their arms falling to their sides as they did so. They then made their way to the theater that was there at the mall so they could watch a movie.

During the movie, the two sat there hand in hand while Sean rested his head on Alex's shoulder. Once the movie was over, they left the theater to go look around the mall a little more. Not seeing anything of particular interest, they left.

After driving for several minutes, the car came to a stop in front of Sean's house. Sean unbuckled himself and looked at Alex.

“I had fun tonight,” Sean said.

        “I did too.”

After staring into each other's eyes for a few seconds, they slowly leaned forward and kissed each other on the lips. Their eyes fluttered close as Sean placed a hand on the back of Alex's head. Their tongues danced in a rhythmical motion for several seconds until Sean slowly pulled away. They both smiled at each other for a moment before saying their good-byes. Once Sean was inside the house, Alex drove off to go home.

The part where you explain the two driving to the mall is too boring, put something there to spice up your characters.
