Chapter 19A Chapter by Chris
Sean walked through the crowded halls of the school at a steady pace. A yawn escaped his mouth, still a little tired due to it being early morning. He had just been to his locker and he was now trying to find Alex, hoping he could maybe talk to him a little before classes began. After walking down the Junior hallway a little bit, he spotted Alex at his locker. A smile curved on his lips as he walked over. “Hey,” he greeted. Alex looked away from his locker to look at Sean. A smile crossed his face as a hand reached up to close the locker door. “Hey,” the brown-haired boy said back. The two looked at each other for a moment. Both of them wanted to kiss and hold the other one in their arms; it showed clearly in their eyes. They refrained from doing so though. Neither of them wanted others to know about the fact that they were gay. It was a bit too risky because they didn't know how well everyone would take it. Alex and Sean started to walk around a little now. Both of them glanced towards one another every few seconds, but nothing was said right away. “I had fun last night,” Alex finally said as they turned the corner. “Maybe we should do it again sometime?” “Yeah, definitely,” agreed Sean. “Hey, what are you going to do for math class?” Alex asked. “You don't sit with me anymore.” “I'll try to ask for my seat back,” replied Sean. “I kind of hate the front anyway.” “Good,” said Alex. They talked a little more as they walked around the school. When the bell rang, they headed off to their first period classes.
The first half of the day went by rather quickly for both of them. When it came time for lunch, both of them headed down to the cafeteria. Sean was the first to reach their usual table and Alex arrived about two minutes later with a tray. “I hate cafeteria food,” Alex said as he stared down at the chicken nuggets he bought. “Maybe you should see if they bounce,” joked Sean, referring to an old rumor about the chicken nuggets. “They're not made of rubber,” laughed Alex. “Believe me, I checked last year and they didn't bounce very well.” Alex and Sean began to eat their lunch. A few seconds later, someone walked over to their table and they both looked up to see Vincent standing there with a lunch tray in his hands. “Hey Vincent,” greeted Alex. “What are you doing here?” “I've got this lunch now,” answered Vincent. “I finally got my schedule changed. Physics was way too hard for me so I had to switch science classes.” “Cool,” said Alex. “Go ahead and sit down.” Vincent eyed Sean for a moment before looking back at Alex. “Sorry, but I don't think I will,” said Vincent. “Why not?” questioned Alex. “I'll just go sit over there,” Vincent said, completely ignoring the question. Alex watched as Vincent walked over to an unoccupied table that wasn't too far away. He was a little upset about Vincent not sitting with them and wondered why he didn't want to in the first place. “Go sit with him if you want,” Sean told Alex. Vincent glanced towards Alex every few seconds as if he was expecting Alex to come over and sit with him. Alex turned his head and looked towards Sean. “No, it's okay,” replied Alex. “I'll sit with you.” “You sure?” Sean asked. “You don't have to sit with me just because I'm your boyfriend you know. If you want to sit with your friend, go ahead.” “No, I want to sit with you.” Sean nodded. They sat there and continued to eat as they talked. A little after they finished eating, lunch ended and the two boys headed off to Algebra II. When they got there, Sean slowly walked towards the teacher to ask for his old seat back. However, before he could reach her, someone else did. It was Vincent. “I was switched into this class,” Vincent told her, holding out his revised schedule to show her. “Ah, so that's why you weren't here earlier,” she said after taking a moment to look at the schedule. “Go ahead and sit over there.” The teacher pointed over to the desk that was next to Alex. Sean stood there and stared at the desk in disbelief. He looked towards the extended finger and followed the direction it pointed in once more to make sure that his eyes weren't playing tricks on him. They weren't though. Vincent walked away from the teacher and over towards the desk. “You need something Sean?” asked the teacher. Sean looked towards her and shook his head before walking to the desk he sat at. Vincent now reached the desk and sat his backpack down on the floor. Alex turned his head to look at Vincent, a bit surprised and disappointed at the same time. “Hey, we have the same math class now,” Vincent said, smiling a little. “Awesome,” Alex replied unenthusiastically and gave a weak smile. “By the way, how's come you didn't sit with me at lunch?” asked Vincent. “Why didn't you sit with Sean and I?” “I don't want to sit with that kid.” Vincent paused and looked towards Sean before looking at Alex. “I don't like him and I don't know why, but he creeps me out a little. He's a wimp too. I picked on him during gym class last year and he looked like he was going to cry.” Vincent let out a small laugh. All Alex could do was sit there and glare at Vincent. He practically wanted to punch him for saying something like that, but he kept himself from doing so. The bell rang right afterwards and the teacher quickly started class. Math class went by a little slowly for Alex. He was a little upset about the fact that Sean wasn't able to sit with him during this class now and because of the fact that Vincent hated the one he loved. When class did finally end, Alex walked out of the room.
When the school day finally ended, Alex headed out to his car. He waited there in the parking lot until Sean came over. They both greeted each other and not another word was said after that. Alex backed out of the parking space and exited the school parking lot. “Sorry I couldn't get my seat back,” Sean apologized about half a minute later. “Don't worry about it,” said Alex. “We still have lunch. There's always after school and the weekends too. Speaking of which, want to go do something?” “Can't. Got work, remember?” “Oh, right,” Alex said rather disappointedly. They went onto talking about other things. It wasn't too much longer until the car coasted to a stop in front of Sean's house. Alex parked the car and the two looked at each other. “Thanks for the ride,” Sean said. “Mhm,” hummed Alex. The two stared at each other for a couple more moments. Unable to retain themselves any longer, they both lunged forward and kissed each other. Their eyes closed as Sean reached a hand up and placed it on the back of Alex's head. Alex's tongue soon slid into Sean's mouth, exploring every inch of it. They French kissed for seconds that seemed to stretch into hours before they both slowly pulled away, smiling at each other. “Bye,” Sean said as he grabbed his backpack from the backseat and opened the car door. “Bye,” Alex said back before the car door closed. Alex watched Sean until he disappeared inside the house. He then put the car into drive and made his way home. © 2008 Chris |
