![]() Chapter 12A Chapter by Chris![]() Sean is at the lake, planning on doing something to fix his life once and for all.![]()
Hours had passed since Sean was beaten by his father. The sun was just about to set completely below the horizon. Sean was sitting near the edge of the lake with his seemingly lifeless gaze set on the calm waters. A heavy sigh filled with sadness escaped his parted lips. A few seconds later, Sean reached a hand into his pocket and pulled out the pocket knife. He revealed the blade and just looked at it for a moment as his hands fiddled around with it a little. Tears started to roll down his cheeks as the thoughts of death filled his mind. He was ready to give up on everything and end his life there. The small amount of hope that everything would turn out for the better had left Sean completely. Alex was making his way down the street. He was coming from Vincent's house and was going back home. His eyes were fixed on the road just a little ways ahead of him as he thought a little, mainly about Sean. He was wondering if the boy was okay since he hadn't been at school since Monday and since he wasn't able to see him earlier that day at his house. His eyes soon wandered over towards the lake where he spotted Sean. A smile came onto the teen's lips. Thinking he would maybe talk to him a little, he started to walk over. After taking a few steps towards the other male, the smile that was on his face disappeared. Seeing the small knife that was slowly being brought towards Sean's throat, Alex broke into a run towards the boy. “Sean?” was the only thing Alex could say as he rushed over. His voice was completely filled with worry. Sean stopped and turned his head to see Alex coming to a stop right next to him. The knife was quickly snatched from his hand and chucked somewhere to the side. “What the hell were you trying to do?” Alex said as calmly as he could, though his voice was a bit shaky after witnessing what was close to being a suicide. The dark-haired boy looked away from Alex in an ashamed way. “Just go away,” he muttered. “No,” Alex said. “You just tried to kill yourself! How the hell can I just walk away now?” “You can. Just go away!” “Sean, you practically worried me to death! Why were you trying to pull something like that?” “It's not any of your business! Just leave me alone!” Alex looked at Sean with a concerned expression on his face. Sean didn't bother looking at Alex. He was too upset to. Tears continued to stream down his face and his body started to shake a little too. “Sean...” Alex muttered quietly before trying to place a comforting hand on the boy's back. “Get off me!” shouted Sean as he smacked Alex's hand away. The younger boy got to a stand and started to walk off. “Sean, wait,” Alex called as he stood up and tried to go after the boy. “Just stay away from me!” Sean shouted back before breaking into a run down the street. Alex quickly tried to follow him, but the boy proved to be a bit too fast for him to catch up to. It wasn't long until Alex had lost the other boy's tracks. He slowed to a stop and stood in the middle of the one-lane road. His eyes wandered around the area, trying to figure out where Sean went. “Where did you go...?” he said quietly to himself before starting to walk off in search of the boy. © 2008 ChrisAuthor's Note
