Chapter 6

Chapter 6

A Chapter by Chris

The first half of the day went by quickly for Adam. He spent a little time talking to Jake before heading out go to hang out with his friends. When it started to get close to time to go on the date, Adam went back up to the room. He took a shower and got dressed into some clothes that looked at least a little decent for a date. Jake was in the room by the time Adam got out of the bathroom.

“What are you all dressed up for?” Jake asked.

“I have a date with Katie in a few minutes,” said Adam. “We're going to go see a movie.”

“Oh.” Jake looked at Adam as if he knew something that he didn't. Adam didn't catch it though because he currently had his back turned on the other male. “Well, have fun.”

“Thanks,” Adam said, hoping that he would too.

The boy made his way out of the dormitories and across the school grounds to the cinema that was on campus. Katie was already there and standing near the entrance. Like Adam, she was also dressed up for the occasion. When she saw Adam walking over to her, a smile graced Katie's lips.

The two greeted each other before heading inside. They got their snacks, which Adam paid for, before walking into the theater that their movie was going to be played in. It was apparently some romance movie that Katie heard about from her friends and she said that she just had to see it.

During the movie, Adam glanced over in the seat next to him at Katie nervously. He wasn't really feeling too comfortable about this, partly because he had no idea what to do. This was his first time going on a date after all. However, as the movie continued to progress, he calmed down a little bit. His hand was resting on the arm rest that was between him and Katie. Katie saw this and slowly moved her hand towards Adam's. She placed her hand on his before quickly pulling away and blushing a little.

        “Sorry,” she said.

Adam gave a faint smile. “Don't worry about it.”

Since he figured it was the best thing to do, he held his hand as if giving her permission to hold onto it. She saw it grabbed his hand. The two sat like that for the rest of the movie. When it was finally over, her and Adam made their way out of the building hand in hand. They started commenting on some of the scenes in the movie too.

Adam offered to walk her to the girls' dormitories and so the two walked across campus together. Once they got there, the two stopped just aways from the doors that lead into the building. Katie moved to stand in front of Adam and looked up at him, smiling at him sweetly.

“I had fun tonight,” Katie said.

“I did too,” Adam said, giving a small, false smile.

They stood there about a second before Katie reached up and kissed Adam on the lips. Adam was a little surprised by it, but it didn't really show on his face. Katie smiled at him again and Adam ended up returning the smile with a false one of his own. Afterwards, they said bye to each other before Katie headed into the girls' dormitories.

On his way back to his room Adam couldn't help but to start to regret the whole date. Unfortunately, he didn't like it like he had hoped he would and now he was stuck with a girl that he didn't like. All this time he was hoping that just maybe going out with Katie would help him realize that he was actually straight and it would banish the thoughts he had of other guys in his mind.

Jake looked up when from his book when Adam came into the room. A smile came onto his mouth, but Adam didn't return the smile or even really make any eye contact for that matter. Instead he just walked over to his bed and plopped down onto it, letting out a quiet sigh as he did so. The smile left Jake's face.

“Didn't work out too well?” Jake said.

“No,” Adam said. “I thought I liked her, but I guess I don't. She's just not really my type though.”

Jake looked at Adam for a second or two before giving a slow, small nod of his head. He almost wanted to tell Adam the truth of why he didn't like the date, hoping to make him realize who he truly was. However, he didn't want to try bugging the other boy about it right now and just thought that it would probably be best for Adam to figure it out for himself.

Not much was said between the two that night. Adam was too busy thinking about the date with Katie and what happened afterwards. It bothered Adam a little because now he would probably have more trouble with her than what he has had. Because of it Adam even had a little trouble falling asleep. He tossed and turned throughout the night, trying to get to sleep, but the whole event that happened today kept swimming around in his mind. It took Adam about three hours to finally fall asleep.
