Chapter 5A Chapter by Chris
For the majority of the time the following day, Adam's mind kept wandering to the date he was going to have with Katie. He kind of regretted the whole fact that he said yes yesterday. Because of the fact that he did, he now had a date with a girl he didn't really have any interest in. Unfortunately, there probably wasn't any possible way he could get out of it. Even if he did try to come up with some excuse for him not to go to the movies with her, Katie would probably only end up trying to push the date further back. Not only that, but he was a bad lier and Brad was probably really the only person that believed him whenever he did lie. However, the more he thought about it the more Adam became a little more comfortable with the date. He thought he was even becoming a little excited about it. It even made him a little glad that he did agree to go the movies with her. He started to think that maybe it wouldn't be as bad as he thought and he started to think that maybe he was becoming a little attracted to the girl. Not only that, but Adam was also hoping that this date would somehow help him get rid of the thoughts that he has every time he looks at another male. Today was Friday, which meant that he would be going on the date with Katie tomorrow. Classes were over for the day and Adam and Brad were heading to the basketball court to meet up with the rest of their friends. They talked a little about their classes and a little after that Brad decided to change the topic to something else. “So I heard you have a date with Katie tomorrow,” Brad said. “Yeah,” Adam said. “We're going to go catch a movie on campus.” A smile crossed the taller male's face. “Congratulations dude, you finally have a girlfriend. 'Bout time too. You could use one.” The smile then changed into a smirk. “I was actually almost starting to worry that the whole gay disease was starting to spread to you.” Adam gave a false chuckle. “Yeah,” he said. He knew the last thing Brad said was nothing but a joke, but he couldn't help but to worry a little about it. “And see? What did I tell you? I knew you liked someone but you were trying to deny it. I told you I wasn't stupid.” Adam didn't say anything but only shrugged. For the most part, Brad was actually kind of right about what he said about him liking someone. He wouldn't completely admit it though because it would only get him into more trouble than what wanted. However, he was hoping that after the date he had with Katie, he wouldn't like the person in that kind of way anymore. When the two friends got to the basketball courts, they saw that there other friends were there. They quickly started to play a game and it didn't end until it was time for dinner. All of them headed to the cafeteria to eat, and when he was done, Adam left to go to his room. Once he got into the room, he saw that Jake wasn't there. Adam didn't mind though and he just walked over to his bed and threw the backpack down on the floor for now. His eyes wandered around the room a little and he soon saw the book that Jake was reading last night sitting on his desk. A little curious, Adam walked over and picked up the book. He looked at the cover of it a little while moving towards Jake's bed and sitting down. Adam skimmed through the pages of the book, reading bits and pieces of it. He almost wanted to say that the book seemed to be a little interesting and he got a little more hooked on it as he read more of it. However, a couple minutes later, he heard the door beginning to open. Startled, Adam dropped the book on the bed and rushed over to his bed where he sat down before he could be caught on the other boy's bed. “Hey,” Jake greeted as he closed the door behind him. “Hey,” Adam said, casually sitting on his bed as though he had been there for some time now. Jake moved over to his desk and sat his backpack on the floor before going over towards his bed. He spotted the book that was sitting there and picked it up, a confused look on his face as he looked at it. “That's odd, I don't remember moving the book since this morning,” Jake said, more to himself than Adam. “Wonder if someone moved it.” “Don't think so,” said Adam. “No one else comes in here except for you and me.” Jake looked at Adam and smirked a little. “Did you move it?” he asked in a joking manner. Adam didn't really hear the way the question was asked and he got a little defensive about it. “No, of course not,” he lied. “Why would I want to touch it? I don't read books like that.” Jake looked at Adam a little bit longer as if he was thinking about something. He then just gave a simple nod before looking at the book. “Don't know how that happened then.” “You probably moved it before and just forgot about it, that's all,” Adam said. “Maybe.” Jake then just gave a shrug before saying, “Oh well.” The blond-haired boy put the book on his nightstand for now and sat down on his bed, not really in the mood to read right now. Him and Adam started to talk. Since it was a Friday and they didn't have school the next day, they both stayed up a little bit later than what they usually did. When it became midnight though, Adam decided to head to bed, wanting to make sure he got enough rest for tomorrow. © 2008 Chris |
