Chapter 2A Chapter by Chris
The following day both boys were woken up by Jake's digital alarm clock. A hand came out of the covers on Jake's bed and felt around for the snooze button. Once it was found and pushed, the alarm clock stopped and both Jake and Adam groggily emerged from underneath their covers. Like the previous day, neither of them said a single word to each other. Adam got dressed before grabbing his things for his classes and putting them in his black backpack. Once he had everything he would need, he headed out of the room and made his way to the cafeteria. Adam sat with his friends and talked to them as all of them ate. When they were finished eating, it was time to head to their first class of the day. By the time they reached the building all their academics were held in, Brad and Adam parted ways to head to their classes. While he walked, Adam looked around a little, mainly at the people to see if he still remembered anyone else from last year. “Hey Adam,” came a feminine voice a few seconds later. Adam looked beside him to see a girl about his age. She has long blonde hair and brown eyes and she is wearing blue jeans and a white short-sleeved shirt. A smile was on her lips as she looked up at the brown-haired boy, who returned it with a small smile of his own. “Hey Katie,” greeted Adam. “How's it going?” “Good,” she said. “So how was your summer?” “It was okay, and yours?” “It was great. I went down to the beach with my family and we had a good time there.” “That's good.” The two continued to talk a little longer while walking down the hall. It was pretty clear that Katie had a thing for the brown-haired boy, but he didn't seem to notice at all. Katie ended up leaving Adam though when they reached her class. Adam said a simple bye to her as he kept walking to his classroom. After walking for a little longer, Adam finally neared his classroom. He ended up seeing Jake down the hall a little ways, who was being called names by a few students because of his sexuality. Adam made no attempt to help, knowing that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do so. Instead he just headed into his class. The first few classes went by rather slowly for Adam. They weren't really his most favorite classes and he didn't have a friend in any of them. After fourth period though, it was time for lunch. Like usual, Adam sat with his friends as he ate. When they finished, it was time to head to the last two classes of the day. Brad and Adam had those two classes together, which were science and gym. The two walked down the halls of the academic building and it wasn't long until they ended up spotting Jake just a ways away. “Hold on, there's something I have to do before we head to Chemistry,” Brad said. Adam stopped walking as he watched Brad make his way over to Jake. A sigh left Adam's mouth before starting to follow the taller boy over there. When they got over to him, Jake looked up at the two. Brad looked down at Jake with a slightly cold look on his face. “Hey, I just wanted to warn you not to spread your disgusting disease to Adam,” Brad said. “Make sure you stay the hell away from him because if I find out you even look at Adam in a wrong way, I'll beat the crap out of you. Got it?” Brad glanced towards Adam as if expecting him to say something. Adam didn't say anything right away though. “Yeah, because I don't want your damn disease you stupid queer,” Adam finally added about a couple seconds later. “Okay whatever, I get the idea,” Jake simply said before walking off. Brad and Adam watched the blond-haired boy for a moment. When Jake disappeared in a crowd of students, a satisfied smile came on Brad's face before he turned to face Adam. A small hint of guilt was in Adam's eyes, but Brad didn't notice. “Well, now that we got that taken care of, let's get to class,” Brad said. Adam nodded before saying, “Alright.” The two boys made their way to Chemistry. That class and the next went by rather quickly for Adam since Brad was in both of them. When the classes were over, Adam hung out with Brad and their other friends for the evening. Like the previous day, they all headed to a basketball court to play a game. After having dinner, Adam headed to his room. When he got there, he found out that Jake was already in there sitting at his desk. Adam walked over to his bed, looking at Jake a little as he quietly set his backpack on the floor. “Hey,” Adam said a little quietly. “Sorry, but I'm not gonna talk to you,” Jake said. “I don't want to spread my 'disease' to you after all.” Adam nodded and looked down a little. “...Right,” he said. Not another word was said between the two for the rest of the night. Every now and then Adam glanced over towards the other boy, still feeling a little bad for earlier. However, Adam tried to ignore it as he just remained sitting there. Since he didn't have any homework because of this being the first day of classes, Adam didn't really have much of anything to do. When it finally became late, the two boys decided to head to bed. Adam and Jake didn't say anything to each other as they just stripped down to their boxers to get ready to go to sleep. Both of them got into bed before Jake reached up to the lamp next to his bed to turn it off. The room went black afterwards. It took a little while before Adam finally fell asleep. © 2008 ChrisReviews
