Chapter 3A Chapter by Chris
Spike had been wandering the streets ever since he had ran out of school. The spring air brushed against his face as he walked. His black hood was down, showing his short brown hair. Blood was dried on his face from the fight with John in the cafeteria. It caused some people to stare at him as he passed them, which only caused Spike to shoot cold and angered looks at them. He soon went to his apartment. He climbed up the couple flights of stairs before coming to his apartment room. After he opened the door, he walked into the messy room. A small kitchen area was to his left as he walked in. The living room was real messy. Clothes and other things littered the floor. The couch was real worn out and there were a few stains on it too. A floor lamp was on one side of the couch. A small television sat on a wooden stand just a few feet in front of the couch. There were three other rooms; two of them were bedrooms and the other was the bathroom. Spike walked over and sat down on the couch. He turned the television on and started to watch it. It was rather quiet in the apartment though excluding the sound that came from the television. Spike lived alone. His parents were dead and have been for two years now. He ended up living on his own in this apartment and was barely able to pay the rent from the lack of money he had. Sure there was always a possibility of trying to get a job at a restaurant or something, but why would Spike bother doing something like that? He was not that smart since he barely went to school, and no one would accept him anyway. No one cared. It would be the same way like it had always been. After watching television for about thirty minutes, Spike started to grow hungry. There was not a speck of food in the house. The refrigerator and the cabinets would be empty. The kitchen was actually probably the cleanest area of the house since it was hardly ever used. Spike did not even have any money either, but he knew how to fix that problem though. All he had to do was do a little pick pocketing. It was what he always did when he had no money. It was the only way without having to get a job. Spike turned off the television and left the apartment. He walked the streets for a few minutes. He soon spotted a few men standing on the sidewalk and talking. He thought he would try with them. They seemed like they would have a good amount of money. Spike walked over and stood behind one of them. He slowly slid his hand into the man’s pocket and pulled out his wallet. He opened it up and took out all the money that was in it. He wasn’t able to put the wallet back though. “Thief!” one of the other men shouted as they noticed him with the wallet. Spike looked up as all the men now looked at him. Being caught red-handed, he quickly dropped the wallet and made a run for it. After running for about a minute, Spike slowly went into a walk. He looked behind him to make sure none of the men were running after him still. None of them were. Assuming that they had lost him or either just stopped chasing after him, he removed the money from his pocket and started to count it. He managed to get fifty dollars. Spike didn’t know how long it would last for him, but he knew it would do for the time being. Once he stopped at a fast food restaurant and got something to eat, he headed back to his apartment. Spike set the food down on the table and quickly started to eat to satisfy his hunger. It had been over a day since he has eaten after all and it felt good to finally have something to eat. When he got done eating, Spike just spent the rest of the day laying on the couch and watching television. He didn’t feel like walking the streets and he didn’t want to go to the back streets right now. He knew that if he did, he would only end up getting in a fight with John. Sure he wanted to beat up John for doing what he did today in the cafeteria, but he wasn’t exactly in the mood to fight right now. He figured he would get his pay back tomorrow or the day after that. Spike watched television until about midnight. Afterwards, he just went to bed, quickly going to sleep once he did. It was kind of a tiring day for him. © 2010 ChrisReviews
