Chapter 2A Chapter by Chris
After lunch, students started to pour out of the cafeteria. They had a few minutes before they needed to get to their next class. Two boys walked down the hall, making their way through the slightly crowded hallways as they headed towards their locker. One boy has short blonde hair and soft blue eyes. He is wearing tan pants and a blue short-sleeved shirt. His white gym shoes seemed to be a bit worn, showing how long they have been used. His eyes held a hint of kindness and a smile was on his face like it usually always was. The other boy has messy brown hair and brown eyes. He is wearing jeans, white tennis shoes, and a tennis jacket that is blue and white, the school’s colors. He seemed to be about an inch taller than the other and his face wore a slightly serious look. “It’s not really that surprising they did what they did during lunch, Max,” the boy with the brown hair said to the other. They were talking about the short fight between Spike and John. “You know that they hate each other. They almost always get into fights when Spike comes to school.” “Yeah I know,” Max said. “But I don’t think they have ever done it in the cafeteria before.” “Who cares?” said the other. “You know that they are both trouble.” “Yeah, you do have a point Mike,” Max said in agreement. “Well, in a way anyway. I still can’t help but to feel Spike is a bit different though…” “Oh, and how is that?” Mike asked. “I highly doubt that Spike is any different than John. If he was, then why would he go and beat people up so much? I mean, look at him. He always has two black eyes and he always seems to walk around in a pissed off mood.” “He probably just feels alone. If he probably had a friend, maybe he wouldn’t be so mean.” “I doubt that would be the case. I think that guy is just pure evil or something, that’s all. He will never change. He will probably always be like this until the day he dies.” “I don’t know…I’m sure he just needs a friend…” Mike didn’t say anything right away. They were at Max’s locker and Max was putting things in his backpack and taking some stuff out of it. Mike looked at Max before letting out a quiet sigh, looking down towards the ground and shaking his head as he did so. He looked back up at Max, knowing what he was planning to do. Max was never usually that unpredictable. “Don’t tell me you’re going to try to become his friend…” Mike said dully. “It’s worth a shot,” Max said. “I know it might be hard, but I think it will be worth it.” “You’ll probably end up dead if you even try to do something like that,” warned Mike. “You probably wouldn’t even get anywhere with him anyway. It would be like talking to a living brick wall that strikes at you whenever you tick it off.” Max closed his locker. He turned to face Mike. “You don’t know that and whatever you say isn’t going to change my mind.” Max took a quick glance at a nearby clock in the hallway. “Come on, we better get to class.” Mike gave a slight nod and the two went off to their next class, which was History. Once they got to the classroom, they sat somewhere in the back, sitting at desks so they were next to each other. The two were great friends and they have been for about seven years now. After that class, they went to their last two classes of the day, which didn’t seem to go by too slow. By the last class, the majority of the students had a hard time concentrating. It was a Friday after all. Even Mike and Max had a hard time focusing on their work because of it being Friday. When school was over, the two slowly walked out of the building along with the other students, who poured out of the building and onto the school grounds, either staying around for a couple minutes to chat with friends or leaving the school. “I think I’ll just hang out here until tennis practice starts,” Mike said as he stopped walking and watched Max walk off. “Okay,” Max said back to Mike as he kept walking. “I’ll be back a bit later to watch. I just need to take care of a few things.” Max almost always went to Mike’s tennis practices or matches. They were just that good of friends and Max didn’t really have anything better to do. Mike was pretty much his only friend and it was boring to him when he had no one to hang out with. Once Max had done everything he had to do, he went to the tennis courts the school used for tennis practice. He watched Mike practice and once practice had ended, Max and Mike headed off, going to hang out until the day ended. © 2010 ChrisFeatured Review
