Grasping string

Grasping string

A Poem by Haru Shimo

People want to be loved
Yet they push away the ones that do love them
They want to cradle the ones that throw them away
Humans to the bitter end are confusing creatures
Ones that make you question everything
They crave the attention of one's they can't obtain
They seek challenge yet they tear themselves up trying to gain it
Something so far gone they want to be in arms reach
Hearts crumble and angry is lashed out
People fade away sooner or later
Nothing is forever yet they cling to it
With dear hope to keep everything they have and will have
Yet it's crushed
What do we obtain from life but the challenge of struggling?
Desperately we try to grasp ahold of life without suffocating it
Though it slips through our fingers and disappears into the shadows
Can we keep our heads up above the water?
Or are we destined to drown from the beginning?
