"On the Other Side"

A poem dedicated to a lost friend of mine.

Six… five… four… three… peek-a-boo, I see you
Glitches of you still visit my blued mind
Blew the dust off and there I see you beam
Two young souls revel under sun and moon
Sun-kissed skin drenched in dews of warm embrace
Hopes are high as our kites drift through skyline
Fear not as we dive into seas of odds
Going deeper, reaching the crest of bliss
Creaking noise of seesaw breaks through silence
Now gone as I sat alone on one side
Enamoured by bitter taste left on tongue
Two… one… peek-a-boo, swiftly I lost you.

What a wonderful way of depicting lost friendship! I like the rhythm. I like how the first and last line of the stanza, used as refrain, add emphasis on the celebratory (happy) tone and a melancholic (sad) one, summing up loss and gain, pleasure and pain.
