Snow

Snow

A Poem by Harriet Rose
"

I wrote this poem about someone who is difficult to be with. Once you reach the point at which they let you in, they're not as great as you thought.

"

Your hands leave trails of ice cold hate and

Your feet leave footsteps in snow just fallen from

Your cold words like clouds crying for any kindness.

But you will not get kindness.

Only the good get kindness, only the fair get kindness,

Not the snowy mountains that kill any who dare to venture

On their frostbitten territory.

You are a mountain, taller than any other, colder than any other.

But if a daring soldier reaches the top of your barriers, all they get

Is grief and sorrow and hatred,

Sore words that weigh down their shoulders until they break and

Fall to the base of you.

You are a mountain, not like any other,

Other mountains give pride, love, victory,

but not you.

All you have is snow.
