Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem

A Poem by Harper Tate
"

In the style of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell.

"

If we had but a life to spare,

My heart, for once, I could lay bare

My love for you could surely show,

To speak the truth and stunt the throe.

I’d stay a million years with you,

If only you’d reply “I do”.

But now shall pass by us so fast,

We know our bodies will not last,

Our hollow shells will decompose,

What happens then, well no one knows

Will we unite beyond the grave?

These answers are the ones we crave.

For now, your love shall more than do,

The present time I spend with you.

To hold you close and feel your skin,

So speak your mind and let me in.

For you, my love, I want to stay,

And be with you for all my days.
