Christmas Day Kiss

Christmas Day Kiss

A Poem by Harper Tate

And then you kissed me,

The taste of last nights cigarettes and whiskey on your skin.

Memories of cold breath leaving your lips in the fire’s warmth appears in my mind.

Glimmers of orange, yellow, gold and red stream across your face.

The heat, resonating from you, not the flames embrace my body.

The freckles under your eyes, like stars mapping constellations on your skin.

Lashes so elegant, framing the sapphire gems I lose myself in.

Your lips move, you talk, yet all I see is your glow.

The passion that flickers across your eyes, the urge to express.

Our lips lock for the first time, our skin intertwined.

Your sweet taste lingering on my tongue, your hands encompass me.

As you pull away, I take a moment to memorise every indentation and contour of you. An eternal moment. I loved you from that second and will continue to do so until every atom of my being dissolves into non-existence.
