The Waves

The Waves

A Poem by Harper Tate

She sits in the storm as the wind bites at her cheek,

She succumbs to the numbness.

The waves thrash with anger.

Tears stream down and mix with the sea air,

The wind curls in like the thunder of a thousand wild stallions.

She closes her eyes and begins to walk,

Though her lungs are filled with regret,

She has never breathed deeper.
