Chapter 8

Finally around 5:30am I cried out to God.
“Lord I’m so sorry for all that I’ve done. All the times I’ve dodged you, I’m so sorry for everything. Send Jesus into my life now so I can have him as my own. Please forgive me now, I’ve been such a jerk to you. I see now that you love me more than ever. Thank you for sending everyone into my life to help me find this out. Especially Emery, father I love him so much. Thank you and I’m so sorry!”

My Mom’s Take

I woke up and heard a noise coming from Trinity’s room. I sat up in my bed listening to her talk to herself. Until after a while it was silent, and I fell back asleep. Then I woke up to her yelling at around 5 in the morning and I heard her crying to God. I heard her apologizing to him.
“Oh Father God, thank you so much!! Thank you father. Finally she sees your truth. Thank you! I love you so much father I knew you could help her. Oh Father I praise you, thank you Jesus.”

I stopped praying for a while to listen to my mother praise God and Jesus.
“And thank you Jesus that my mom didn’t give up on me.”
The next day at school I went up to Emery.
“Guess what?” We said at the same time.
“You go first.” He said.
“Ok. I am now officially saved.” I said with a huge smile.
“REALLY!?” He exclaimed.
“Yes. I can’t believe this feeling of, of…freedom and forgiveness. I love it.” I said.
“I’m so happy, and relieved.” He said. But not sounding the best he could with this news.
“What’s the matter? I thought after all you’ve gone through you would be happier.” I said.
“I am totally happy.” He said kissing my forehead.
“Also because we can be together now…” I said noticing he still wasn’t fully happy.
“Ok, what’s really up?” I asked.
“Well, it’s just that…it’s just that. God came to me last night.” He said.
“Really?” I asked. “What’d he want? What’d he say?” I asked.
“Well. He said. That…” We were interrupted by the bell. “I’ll tell you tonight over dinner. Meet me at my home. Around 6ish. Ok?” He said.
“Um, ok.” I said. Now I couldn’t concentrate on my homework. I was so concerned with what Emery was going to tell me. What had God said? I asked myself. School didn’t go by fast enough. Even Emery wasn’t concentrating; which was weird for him. Well of course he does know everything already. Finally school ended.
“Remember I want the report on how the formula we just worked on truly functions and coexists with the rest of the table of elements. See you on Monday.” The teacher got his brief case and started putting papers into it. The rest of the class rushed out of the classroom. I went up to Emery.
“See you tonight.” I said.
“Yes, sister.” He said.
“Sister?” I asked.
“Yes, you’re my new sister in Christ now.” He said.
“Oh, that’s interesting…see you tonight…brother.” I said. I made it home and went upstairs to change. It was already 4:30 when I got home.
“Hi honey.” My mom said all smiles.
“Hey.” I said. I went up to her and gave her a big hug. “Thanks for not giving up on me mom.” I said.
“Oh, honey! You’re so welcome.” She said.
“Now, I have to get ready, Emery wants to see me tonight. Mom, can I please talk to you?” I asked.
“Sure.” She said.
“Mom, Emery really is an angel.” I said.
“I know, he’s an angel he helped you see the truth.” She started.
“No, mom. I mean it, he’s really an angel of the Lord. He helped me in so many ways.” I said.
“Honey, you’ve got to get that silly notion out of your head.” She said.
“Mom, how can I get you to believe me?” I asked. My mother sighed.
“Honey, I really have to get some stuff done. I’m glad you’re saved, but I really can’t deal with an angel theory on top of this.” She said and walked off. I got in the shower and got clean. Then I got in the only dress I owned, and did my hair up nicely. Then it was off to Emery’s. I walked up the road; I could see candle light flickering in the window of the little church. I also saw Emery dressed up in a tux. What’s he that dressed up for? I wondered. I started to get within a few feet of the church when I was grabbed.
“Hello beautiful.” Came a dark voice.
“Who are you? What do you want?” I asked.
“Oh, that offends me Trinity.” When he said my name I knew who it was. Only this time it had no effect on me.
“Oh sugar jets, it has no effect because you have a hedge of protection.” He said dancing around like there was a hedge. I was scared, but I felt strong like there was a stronger presence there than this dweeb. He started talking to me about my fears, and faults. It started to nag at me. I was still new with this Jesus thing. I started to doubt, and got really scared and started to curl into a ball and scream. My mother came running up the road.
“LET GO OF MY DAUGHTER!!” My mother yelled at this guy.
“Oh, you have no power over me!” he yelled. He tried to use some power, but it had no effect on my mother.
“Oh don’t tell me you’re protected too.” He said.
“Go back to Satan Jaakobah.” He said.
“You have no power over me Emery!” He said.
“I don’t but through the power and name of our Lord Jesus Christ He gives the power to rebuke you!” Emery said.
“This isn’t over!” Jaakobah said as he faded into darkness. My mom stared at Emery, who was glowing with his heavenly glow.
“Are…you…glowing?” My mother asked.
“Um…” he stuttered; and stopped glowing.
“Oh my gosh…honey you weren’t joking were you?” She asked.
“No, I told you. He’s an angel.” I said.
“Oh, honey…sorry?” She asked stunned.
“No problem.” I said. “Now, I have a date.” I said, looking at Emery.
“Right.” My mom said and went home. Emery and I walked to the little church. He opened the door, pulled out my chair. The atmosphere was so beautiful and serene.
“Ok, so you were going to tell me something.” I said after we had finished eating.
“Oh, right.” Emery said. His eyes going from bright to almost lifeless.
“Whoa, what’s the matter?” I asked noticing.
“Um, well it’s just that.” He started.
“Please just come out with it!” I said.
“Alright, fine.” He started talking really fast to where I almost couldn’t understand him.
“God came to me and said that my task has been completed and that I am going to be returning to heaven next week after graduation from school. Which means we’ll be separated, and will no longer be together until the day you die and come to live in Heaven, even though we won’t have romantic feelings in Heaven. Have a nice life.” He said almost out of breath and then looked confused.
“Sorry about that last part, don’t know where that came from.” Emery said scratching his head.
“uh…uh, uh…uh.” I stuttered. Very bemused and baffled. “So, just like that? You’re going to be gone?” I asked.
“Yes, I guess so.” He said.
“So, what was your task?” I asked.
“Well, I’m actually not sure. God didn’t tell me.” He said.
“So you’re done with a task that you didn’t even know what it was you’re trying to complete?” I asked.
“Um, if I collected what you just said correctly…yes, I think.” He said confused.
“Wow, I still don’t understand God, but I don’t get him.” I said.
“No one does but him.” He said.
“So graduation is a week away?” I asked.
“Yes.” He said.
“But, what am I going to do without you Emery?” I asked. “I love you.”
“I know, I love you too. I’m not sure what God’s will is but I know he knows what he’s doing.” He said. We finished our date and Emery walked me home.
“I will talk to God about this and see what I can do alright?” He asked.
“Ok, but don’t argue with him.” I said sarcastically.
“No, of course not.” He said.
“Just when I find the guy he’s literally perfect, and I can’t have him.” I said.
“hehehe, that’s kind of funny. Sorry.” He said.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at school.” I said.
“Yeah, see you tomorrow. Don’t worry I’ll talk to God.” He said. The next day Emery came up to me.
“I talked to God.” He said.
“Already?” I asked.
“Yeah, and he said I had to return. My task is complete I have to move on and start my next mission. Romantic feelings gone, sight returned, and on my way.” He said.
“Sight returned?” I asked.
“Yes.” He said. A week went by too quickly. I went and found my chair and sat down. The Principal went up to the podium, gave his long boring speech and announced the class of 2009.
