Chapter 1

My name is Trinity Grant. My mother and I just moved to Michigan, from North Dakota.

I’m 17 years old, have dark brown hair with a spiky ponytail, with the rest of my hair hanging down to my shoulders, I also have redish highlights in my hair, I have 3 piercings in each ear. I am 5’4 I usually wear a tank top with tan shorts and flip flops. My mother is 42, is 5’5 her hair is brown and a bit gray already. She wears t-shirts and jeans with tennis shoes. Her hair is medium length and she usually has it curled to some extent. She even still wears her wedding ring. We finally decided that it was time to move and try again at life. My father died when I was 5 years old his plane was struck down in Africa after his missions trip there. So we decided after 12 years of that depressing life to move and start again. Being in the last week of February, it was still cold as there was still snow on the ground.

“Good bye Trinity.” Said one of my only friends Kristen.

“Bye Kristen, I’m sorry for moving, but we have to get out of here.” I told her. Although she had been with me when my father died. We’d been friends since kindergarden.

“Bye Trin, I’ll miss you.” said one of my guy friends Blaine who was Kristen’s boyfriend.

“See ya Blaine, thanks for being there, and being an amazing friend, please take care of Kristen will ya?” I asked him. We don’t talk a lot because my mom is very religious, and well I gave up on God once he let my dad die. It was unfair to take a father away from a 5 year old little girl, and a wife. Our house was a 3 story, with a nice green lawn, with a white picket fence, like the kind in story books, with blue window panes, and flowers in the windows, with a nice porch with a rocking chair and hanging swing, of course they are all covered in snow right now, but in the summertime it’s perfect. Now, we were saying good bye to the life we knew, and we were trading it in for something new.

“Of course. Hey we’ll see each other again.” He said.

“Yeah, I hope so.” I said.

“Trinity, sweetie, we have to get going if we want to make the St. Cloud Minnesota border by sundown.” My mother said loading the last few things into our car. I hugged my friends one last time and loaded into the car.

“Get out of here, I’m freezing!” said Kristin.

“Yeah, ok.” I said. Once we were half way down the street I took out my music and started listening. That way my mom couldn’t talk my ear off for 6 hours. This was going to be along ride. We made it to Fargo and had to stop for a restroom break, food and drink. We stopped at a little diner, it was in the middle of nowhere really, it was a white building fashioned after a diner from the 70’s with the bright neon sign that said welcome to Zoomin‘ Nooman’s Diner.

“Zoomin’ Nooman’s?” I asked skeptically.

“Yeah, sounds fun huh?” my mom said quite seriously and high pitched. We walked inside, brushed our shoes off on the carpet. Everything was themed for the 70‘s; they were in light blue skirts, and tank tops that were half white half light blue, and they were in white roller skates. The floor was black and white checker and there was a table along the front with barstools to sit at. They were red circle seats and the booths were also red. There were really old arcade machines. Besides my mother and I, there were only 2 other people. Another mother, and her little boy who kept wanting to playing the arcade, coming back for a few bites and then off to play some more.

“I remember when you were that small, So how are you enjoying the sights?” My mother asked. I put in my head phones.

“Trinity, please don’t. I thought we agreed no more of this. It’s our new life...please start acting like it.” I thought about it, and she was right. I promised myself to talk more to my mother, at least I’d try harder.

“It’s a winter wonderland.” I said. “I remember being that small too and still having a father.” I said, not meaning for it to sound harsh, but it did.

“There, that wasn’t so bad, and Trinity, I know your father dying at your young age is hard for you to understand now, but just think about it. Maybe God has a bigger plan for you once we get to Michigan.”

“Sure.” I said; not showing my anger and annoyance at that statement, God having a plan for taking away my father, that was a grand plan. The waitress came up to us.

“Hello, I’m Patricia, and I’ll be your waitress. What can I get for ya. Our specials are...” the waitress went on and on about the specials, but I wasn’t paying attention because of her out fit, and her hair being in a perm ponytail with a red ribbon around her neck and then one in her hair. Plus she was kind of old, like maybe a few years older than my mom.

“I’ll just have the corn dog basket, and a Cherry Coke.” I said putting in one of my head phones.

“I’m sorry for my daughter’s rudeness, I’ll take your cheese bacon burger with grilled onions, and a diet Coke. Thanks.”

“No problem, I’ll be right back with your food.” I stared out the window most of the time, while my mother looked at a map. Our food came back and we ate it in silence, while I still stared, and her looking at a map.

“Alright, according to this, we should be at Minneapolis by 9pm. We’ll get a hotel, and then get an early start tomorrow, and be in Michigan by 2pm tomorrow. How’s that sound?” She asked me.

“Fine.” I said. We finished our meal, paid, and went on our way. My mother’s time wasn’t far off. We were in Minneapolis by 9:20. We pulled into a broke down little motel, it’s light was also neon, but most of it was out, or buzzing and flickering. Unfortunately it was our only choice as there was nothing in sight for quite some time. So we settled in there for the night.

“This place should be condemned.” I said trying to make a joke, and make my mom feel better.

“Oh, that was funny Trin. See you’re lightening up already.” She said giggling.

“Yeah...ha ha.” I said. I took a quick shower and brushed my teeth, got changed into my North Dakota High t-shirt and my plain plaid pajama pants and crawled into bed. My mother was already out. I couldn’t blame her, she had been driving for 6 and a half hours. Through out the night there was banging on the walls, and people shouting. I didn’t sleep very well that night. Yet my mother woke up refreshed and bushy tailed.

“Ready to go?” she asked.

“Yeah...I’m ready and rearing to go.” I said sarcastically and tired. Most of the trip I just slept. Only waking up a few times to get something to drink or eat. Finally around 2:30 ish we pulled onto our new street. We went down a little way and pulled into our driveway...if we could call it a driveway. It was nothing more than a dirt road going back just a bit before getting to our house.   Although our driveway is covered in snow...it’s just as cold here as if I was back in North Dakota. Our new house was nothing like our old one. It had broken window panes, a porch with a few boards missing. It was tan. It wasn’t much on the outside, but once we got inside it was ok. We entered the door and to our left was the living room, right in front of us were stairs leading to the upstairs, to our right was a dining room and then branching off into a kitchen. Down the hall a bit from our stairs was the bathroom and a closet. Our kitchen was ok, a good sink a small refrigerator, and a small table. Our dining room also had a small table, and a cabinet for our dishes. There was a window in front of the table looking out into our yard. It smelt a bit musty, as no one had lived there for a few years.

“Welcome home Trinity.” My mom said hugging me.

“Yeah, you too mom.” I said. I went up stairs and chose my room to the left of the stairs. Right in front of the stairs was a bathroom, and to the right was my mothers room, there was also another room, which my mom said she was going to turn into an office. My room was small, but perfect, it had a tree that sat right there, that if I opened my window I could climb out onto. It had a small closet and one outlet...one measly electrical outlet by where I was going to put my bed. The curtains were very outdated, and dusty, and very musty. My mother’s room was a bit bigger and had carpeting...mine did not. I decided to skip a semester of School because I needed to get settled in first. My mother and I were starting to get settled and it seemed more like home. We were eating dinner our first night when there was a knock at the door.

“I’ll get it.” My mother said. I shrugged ok. She went to the door and opened it. All I heard was...

“Hello?”

“Hi, my name is Riley Breton and I noticed you just moved here, I wanted to say welcome to the neighborhood.” I went and stood by the stairs. The man was good looking in a much older respectable kind of way. He had dark brown hair, graying on the side, was thin but muscular, wore a regular t-shirt with blue jeans.

“Hey there.” He said to me.

“Hey.” I said.

“I’m Riley Breton.” He said.

“Trinity.”

“My name is Michelle Grant, and this is my Daughter Trinity as she said, and thank you.”

“Oh no problem, I’m one of the teachers at the local high school, and thought maybe I should introduce myself. Also I noticed your porch and a few other things could be fixed up, I’m a part time construction worker...I could help you with that.”

“Oh really? I’d love that, thank you.”

“Ok then, and what grade are you in?”

“10th.” I said simply.

“Very well. You’ll like your teacher than.” He said.

“Mhm.” I said and walked away. A few weeks went by with him fixing up the place, him and my mother starting getting closer I noticed. Then one night.

“I’d really like to thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into this place, especially with it being so cold.”

“Oh, it’s my pleasure. Really.” He said taking a sip of hot cocoa and the frothy stuff getting on his upper lip. My mother giggled.

“What?” He asked, making himself look even sillier. She giggled some more and took a napkin and wiped it away.

“You’re just as bad as a little kid.” She said smiling. He started smiling a lot as well, and just staring.

“what?” This time it was her turn.

“You’d you like to join me for dinner?” he asked.

“Oh...yes, I would.”

“How’s friday at 6?” He asked.

“Perfect.”

“Good, it’s a nice little restaurant, but it’s formal, so dress nice.” He said.

“I will.” They said good bye and my mother came back inside.

“I have a date for Friday.” I spit out my water.

“WHAT!?” I asked.

“What?” she replied. “It’s about time I start seeing some one, it’s been 12 years.”

“Yeah, sure. Just don’t get pregnant...” I said sarcastically.

“Trinity Grant!” My mom said giving her look, or should I say her glare.

“Just saying. I mean that’s what you tell me.” I said, fake smiling.

“That’s because you’re a teenager, and aren’t saved.” She said.

“Great, again with the saved crap! I’m not pregnant, or am I...?” I said sarcastically walking away.

“I know you’re not, because you don’t know any boys...and are you ok with it? Because if you’re not, I won’t.”

“No, it’s fine. Go, and how do you know I don’t have a secret boyfriend” I went to my room.

“Thanks for the approval!” she yelled after me, although I noticed her sarcastic tone.

Mom’s Date

The doorbell rang, and I was almost ready. My daughter Trinity got the door.

“Yeah, she’s almost ready.” I came down the stairs and found them talking. Riley looked stunning, he was in a nice shirt with dress pants and nice shoes.

“Wow, you look amazing.” We said at the same time.

“You do though.” He said. I was wearing a Dark Purple dress with black beads making a design on the side, with a shawl covering my arms. He told me we were going to some where formal, so I dressed up. I even wore make up which I hadn’t for a long time.

“Are you ready to go?” He asked me.

“Yes. Ok, Trinity. If I’m not home yet by 10 I want you in bed.”

“Mom, just go, I’m 17 years old, I know when to go to bed.”

“I know, I’m just making sure that you...”

“Just go!” Trinity told me.

“Well, our reservation is for 6:30 so we should get going.” said Riley.

“Right, of course. Trinity, I love you, be good. I’ll be back when I can.”

“Ok...” she said and went upstairs. Riley went and opened the door for me.

“Why thank you.”

“No problem.” We got out to his car, once again him opening the door for me. We made it to the restaurant. A restaurant that I could not pronounce it’s name no matter how hard I tried.

“Wow, you weren’t kidding it’s fancy.” I said.

“Yes, well I wanted something special, because I know this is going to become something special.”

“What a great start.” She said.

“yeah?” he said.

“Yeah.” The waiter came to the table and talked with a thick French accent.

“Hello Messier, welcome to “Le soir, à chérir” the finest french cuisine in the city, my name is Alphonse I will be your waiter this fine evening. Mademoiselle.” He said kissing her hand.

“hehehe.” I giggled stupidly. I just wasn’t used to all of this extra treatment. The waiter took our drink order and was on his way.

“I didn’t order wine, I don’t drink for a reason.”

“Oh, that’s fine. It really didn’t cross my mind. So what’s the purpose?” I asked.

“What? sorry.”

“For not drinking. Why don’t you?” I asked.

“Oh, well. My father was an alcoholic, and my grandfather. My Grandfather abandoned my father’s family, then my father abandoned my family.” he broke off.

“Oh. I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” I said embarrassed for even asking.

“It’s fine, I don’t have anything to hide.” he said smiling.

“Still, that’s really horrible.”

“Yeah, but once I forgave him and became a christian I’ve moved on and have become a much happier person.”

“That’s great Riley.”

“So Mademoiselle, what’s your story?” he asked.

“Well, before I moved my location was Washburn North Dakota. I lived there for most my life, I got married to Trinity’s father there. He went on a mission’s trip to Africa and his plane crashed. Trinity was only 5 years old. I try to tell her God has a plan for what happened to her father, and that he took him away when she was so young, but she won’t hear any of it.”

“That is also very horrible. I’m sorry for your loss.”

“It’s alright, I’ve coped with it, it’s been 12 years.”

“Yes, but losing a spouse mustn’t be easy.”

“It’s not.” I sighed and the waiter brought our drinks.

“Are you ready to order?” He asked.

“Yes.” said Riley. He told the waiter what we wanted, in french.

“Ahh, messier perfect choice, I’ll be back with that for you.”

“Very impressive, I didn’t know you spoke french.”

“Yeah, I had to take french when I was in college.”

“Wow. It’s nice.”

“Thank you.” he said. We talked for a little while about our pasts and what we want for a future. Our food came and it was delicious.  ______________________________________________________________________________

Trinity

I looked out the window and saw them drive off.

“Perfect...we just move here and my mom gets married.” As I went to close the curtain I saw some one walking down the road in the distance. From my window you can see out to the main road. He was walking to the very end of the street, to what looked like a shack. I grabbed my coat and boots and headed for the main road. I stepped out onto the road and looked in the way of that boy, he was gone and all that was there, was a broken down cabin, or so it looked from where I was. I locked up my house and headed down the road. Once I walked up to the cabin I realized it wasn’t a cabin, it was an old run-down church.

“Hmm, wonder how long that’s been here? Probably since the 18 something’s. Well that was kind of a waste coming out here. Wasting my body heat.” I walked back home. I then proceeded to go up to my door. I tried turning the knob, but nothing happened. I looked inside and sure enough on the front table was the key.

“Guess, I sit here till she comes back.” It started getting chillier and then it started to snow.

“Perfect...” All I remember is waking up in my room the next morning not remembering how I’d gotten there.

“Morning.” My mother said. “Who was the boy coming out of our house last night?” she asked.

“my secret boyfriend, remember me telling you about him.”

“Trinity? C’mon.”

“I dunno, all I remember is I locked myself out of the house, and then I was waking up in my room.” I said a little concerned that a guy had broken into my house, when I was alone, but more than that, he was in my room when I was unconscious.

“Trin, We need to be careful here, we’re new.”

“Yeah, ok...” I said thinking about her not following her own advice and practically marrying the first guy she met here.

The next few months were weird, my mom and I just moved here and she’s getting pretty serious with Riley. They go out almost every week about 3-4 times. Tomorrow I start school again, I’m a bit nervous, but not bad. I woke up in my room on my bed the next morning with my alarm going off.

“Oh man, I gotta get going!” I ran downstairs and my mom and Mr. Breton were there.

“Good morning.”

“Morning and bye!” I flew out the door. Then I realized who was inside...I went back inside.

“Why’s he here?”I asked.

“I’m to give you a ride to school.”

“Oh...ok.” He dropped me off, and I went on my way. Since it’s my first day, I am totally lost; I have no idea where I’m going, and it’s cold. I’m not liking this Michigan weather.

“There’s no one around…” I thought to myself. Well I should try to find someone or something to help me on my way. I should have stuck with Mr. Breton. *brrrrring* I did not need that. I started running as fast as my feet could carry me, when all of a sudden. *Smack* I was on the ground in an instant.

“I am so sorry.” I apologized as I got up off the ground, and realized I ran into some guy.

“What? There’s someone there?” He asked.

“Uhh, Yeah.” I said.

“Oh, I thought that I’d run into a wall…sorry.” He said.

“Am I that invisible?” I muttered to myself.

“Well, technically yes…” he began to say as I cut him off.

“Excuse me? It’s my first day and already I’m getting harassed.” I looked him in the eyes, but he didn’t really look back.

“Well, if you’d let me finish. Everyone’s invisible to me. I’ve been blind since the age of 2.” He explained.

“Oh.” I said feeling really stupid, and embarrassed.

“I feel stupid.” I said.

“Oh, don’t.” he said smiling.

“I’m new here, and I don’t know where to go, and I’m very much lost.” I said.

“Oh, well I’d love to help.” He said smiling and holding out his hand to me.

“Just tell me your class number.” he said.

“Umm, do you go to school here?” I asked. He put his hand down.

“No, I just wander the hall asking for alms and a hot meal for a blind boy.” He said.

I gave a confused look, and when he didn’t get a response he could hear. He just said:

“I’m joking.” He said. Once again, I really didn’t say anything.

“Ok, either you’ve left and I’m talking to myself, or you just don’t talk that much.” He said.

“No, I talk…it’s just that, well, umm.” I started.

“How do I know where to go, and how do I know which classroom is which?” He asked.

“Yeah…because you’re well you’re…”

“Blind? Look, just because my eyes don’t work, doesn’t mean my brain doesn’t. I know my way around because of the ground, and the textures of the walls. It’s actually quite easy.” He informed me.

“Well I know…I’m sorry.” I said.

“No, don’t, I know it’s interesting. You probably think I should be at a school for the blind huh?” he asked.

“Yeah kind of.” I said.

“It’s ok. Well if you’ll just give me that class room number.” he said holding out his hand.

I took his hand. It was warm, instead of Clammy or sweaty.

“My class number is room 7.” I told him.

“Oh, what would you know? That’s my classroom as well.” He said.

I think I was gripping his hand a little too hard, but it was so warm.

“Are you afraid you’re going to slip?” he asked with a smile on his face.

“Huh.” I realized what he was talking about I and loosened my grip.

“Sorry, it’s just cold, and your hand is warm.” I said blushing; glad he couldn’t see my face. I Blush when I’m embarrassed, and I’m easily embarrassed.

“Oh, why didn’t you say so.” he stopped and gave me his jacket.

“Oh, no. You don’t have to do that, then you’ll be cold.” I said, refusing his jacket, besides, this would’ve seemed awkward, I mean the whole it’s cold, and the guy hands over his jacket. Don’t get me wrong he’s a nice looking guy, a very nice looking guy with a few strands of hair covering his face, and a green shirt that was layered on top of a black long sleeved shirt, and a nice silver wristwatch, and long blue jeans.

“Please, I insist. I can feel you shivering.” He said.

“Oh, well. I didn’t expect it to be this cold.” I said.

“Yeah, I guess the weather man was off a couple degrees.” He laughed.

“A couple?” I asked.

“It’s Michigan Weather, you get used to it.” He said. We continued walking. Finally we made it to room 7. Must say though that it was a little embarrassing being led by a blind person. I walked into class and everyone was staring .

“They’re staring aren’t they?” He asked with a smile on his face. How could he smile so much?

“Yes.” I said, wishing they’d stop.

“What? I can’t be a gentleman and help a girl to her classroom? Oh it’s because I’m blind and leading a girl. I guess I can see the humor in that. But come on, stop staring.” He said with a huge grin. Then, I met the teacher.

“MR. BRETON!!!?” I yelled.

“Hello Trinity. How are you this morning?” he asked nicely.

“I’m fine...but this is fantastic, my mother’s dating my teacher!” I exclaimed, which was stupid because I had just announced that to about 13 kids. Whom I’m sure some of them aren’t shy about talking. Emery was the first to start laughing, really loud.

“It’s not funny...” I said through my teeth.

“Sorry, but it kind of is.” He said still laughing.

“I’m sorry Trinity, I should have told you.”

“Yeah, a heads up would have been super!” I slouched into my seat, and turned to the boy.

“Thank you…” I realized I hadn’t gotten his name.

“Oh, yes. I didn’t give you my name. My name is Emery Eli Wyatte.” Said Emery.

“Emery huh? What a unique name.” I said, not thinking about my own name.

“I hear the name Trinity every where I go.” He said.

I laughed to myself.

“Yeah, I didn’t think about that.” I said.

“No, I’m serious.” he said.

“Oh.” I said a little shocked. “Where do you go?” I asked. He just laughed. All through class I was wondering what this guys story was, how he became blind, and why he was being so nice to me. I was also wondering how he was doing his school work when there wasn’t any brail. He had books and he was writing in it. I peeked over to take a quick look and noticed that it was perfectly on the lines, and he had very nice handwriting.

How on earth is he doing that? I asked myself.

“You’re probably wondering how I get the words on the lines huh, and write properly.” he asked with a smirk on his face.

“Yeah, actually I am wondering that, but also just how you’re doing school.” I said really wanting to know.

“Well, I did go to a blind school for a while, But I was exceeding to quickly. I learned things that other children hadn’t. In Fact, I was learning things at such an advanced rate, that people who had graduated Blind school with the highest level of knowledge hadn’t mastered them yet. In 2 years.”

Wow. How could this be. Him and I have to talk after school. I thought to myself.

The class seemed to go by quickly. I was glad it was over, unfortunately it was only half the day. Before class was over I glanced over at Emery who was very intently listening, then he looked up quickly and with his fingers counted to 2. *Brrrrrrrrrrrring.*

What? How’d he know? Did he know? Of course he knew, he looked up and counted. How though?

“Ok, see you tomorrow class, don’t forget that I may or may not have a pop quiz tomorrow! See you tonight Trinity.”

“Huh?” I asked.

“You’re mother invited me to dinner tonight. Is that alright?”

“Peachy.” I said sarcastically. We both got up out of our chairs and went out the door.

“Ahh, my favorite time of the day!” He exclaimed.

“Why?” I asked Emery.

“Lunch!” he said with a huge grin, and bright eyes. Even though Emery was blind, his eyes were always bright. I wonder how that can be? He showed me to the lunch room and we got our lunch and sat down. I bit into my Pizza.

“So…” He began, and I looked at him confusedly.

“So…What?” I asked while swallowing my bite of Pepperoni pizza.

“What’cha think of think of the cafeteria food?” asked Emery.

What? How’d he know I had even taken a bite? This guy truly is amazing. I thought to myself.

“Just gonna leave me hanging?” He asked.

“No, I’m sorry.” I said, still amazed.

“I’m still just amazed that even though you’re blind, you have such a keen sense of everything around you.” I said taking another bite.

“Yes, well.” he said sounding a little down.

“I’m sorry, did I say something wrong?” I wondered.

“Huh? No, not at all. You’re fine.” He said with a huge grin.

“Oh, ok. Well we should get going.” I said, after we finished eating.

“You never answered my question.” He said.

“Huh? Oh! Right, sorry. The food was well, it was cafeteria food.” I said.

“Yes, I suppose it is. But I think that might be why this room is called the cafeteria.” He said chuckling.

“Maybe.” I said sarcastically; and we headed off to the next class. All through the rest of our classes, he was able to decipher the exact moment when the bell would ring, a few seconds before it would go off.

I wonder how he knows I asked myself. We headed to the final class and a girl came up to me.

“Hi, I’m Julie.” Said the girl.

“uh, hi I’m Trinity.” I said rather shocked.

“I always make it an effort to get to know the new students.” She said with a huge grin.

“Well, it is much appreciated.” I said.

“Do you need help getting to class?” She asked.

“No, I’ve got it.” I said looking to Emery.

“Umm, I was talking to him.” She said, also looking at Emery.

“Oh…” I said blushing. I looked over at Emery who was smiling from ear to ear, as if he could sense the blood rushing to my cheeks. But he couldn’t sense that right? Well unless he was a vampire…but a blind vampire? That’d be a sight to see...no pun intended.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have assumed it was meant for me.” I said, very embarrassed.

“Oh, it’s ok. I should’ve been more specific.” Julie said with a smile.

“ It’s fine. How long have you been coming here?” I asked her.

“Well, I’ve been coming here all of my high school years, so…about 2 years now. I’m a sophomore.” She said happily.

“Oh, well if you’ve been coming here all year long, then wouldn’t you know that Emery doesn’t need help getting around?” I asked very curiously.

“Umm, so that’s his name?” She asked; and I became very confused.

“I don’t understand.” I said.

“Yeah, he’s new here, like you.” She said.

“WHAT!?” I exclaimed. “Is this true?” I asked Emery.

“Yes. I’m sorry I should have told you.” He said.

“But then, how’d you know where to go? How’d you know when the bell would ring?” I asked very confused.

“I’ll see you guys around.” Said Julie, and she left.

“I don’t understand. You’re like some kind of super genius or something.” I said.

“Well, not exactly.” He said, with a grin.

“How can you smile so much?” I asked.

“I’m just a happy person.” He said.

“Uh-huh. I don’t understand this at all, I’m new and can see, but didn’t know where to go. How is it, you’re blind and know exactly where to go?” I asked.

“It’s all about Blind school. They really taught me a lot.” He said.

“Yeah. Well, also how’d you know everyone was staring?” I asked.

“That? It was just pure awkward silence.” He started chuckling.

“I don’t understand.” I said.

“What’s there not to understand?” He asked. “I’m blind, with exceptionally good sense’s. That’s all.” He said.

“Yeah. I guess.” I said, although I knew there had to be more to him than that. After the final class I started walking to the bus-because I don’t have my license yet-when I dropped my backpack. I bent down to pick it up and my paper fell out, and blew underneath the bus, so I quickly scampered after it, in the freezing snow. Something I am definitely not used to. When I grabbed it and started to back out, I realized my coat was stuck on something, and tried to get it unstuck. It wouldn’t budge. I was just about to yell for help when the school bus started up.

“No! HELP!” I yelled, viciously trying to get someone’s attention. But the bus was too loud and proceeded to move forward. This was it, so early in life, and I was about to die by being run over by a school bus. I prayed silently.

Oh God, if you spare me, I swear I’ll go to church, I’ll turn my life around! I prayed to myself, Begging God to spare me! But this was truly it. The bus was really starting to move forward, and no one would be able to hear me over the bus’s muffler. I could feel my coat starting to go with it. Well then I thought of another Idea which was to take the coat off, I tried to remove the coat, but it was so stuck I couldn’t get it to move forward. I closed my eyes. But was soon being removed from under the bus, I opened my eyes and Emery…Was holding me. When we were out in the sun, I realized how dark it was under that bus.

“Trinity? Are you alright? Can you hear me?” Emery asked me. How was this possible?

I decided not to tell him anything.

“Hello? Trinity?” I opened my eyes.

“Yes, But how?” I asked.

“Your coat came undone, and you just barely missed the tires.” Emery said.

Why was he lying to me? What did he have to hide?
