The Real EnemyA Poem by Harmartia PoeShots are fired. Friend or foe? Who’s the enemy? Nobody knows. It’s not a soldier a nurse, a Jew, or even a Nazi with the battle wound. The family needs food the war only gave hunger. Little did they know he wouldn’t live any longer. Loaf in hand with a blood spewing head His whole life ends with a circle of lead He didn’t care what side we were on As long as bullets sailed evil had won. Survivors clear the ruins Dictators went, allies came, but when our hearts still We are one in the same. © 2014 Harmartia PoeAuthor's Note
