The Couple on the Ocean Floor

The Couple on the Ocean Floor

A Poem by Harmartia Poe
"

I couldn't help it. I missed you.

"

It began when my head hit the bottom.

The red manifested the stone of the dam --

the pieces of my skull scattered about

and the contents brightened the dark barricade.

I couldn’t help it.

I missed you.

I became incarcerated in a nightmare.

Your death played like a flickering film.

The clear blue water engulfing you.

Your panicked eyes shine like floodlights.

Your charcoal black hair

bleeds like dye --

creating liquid monochrome.

You drown in a blurry oblivion

in the moonlit ocean waves.

You couldn’t help it.

You missed it.

My dream becomes lucid

and I wake on the sandy bed.

The darkness of the depths overcomes

and I lose myself.

Then like an angel of death,

your floodlight eyes find me

sprawled on the ocean floor.

You’re smiling -- radiant amongst

the liquid monochrome.

You can’t help it.

You missed me.

Harmartia Poe
A poem I wrote about a year ago, inspired by the song "Horror of Our Love" by Ludo. Such a strange, demented, beautiful song.

The imagery was so strong, i love it. This is the darkest love story, like they've had some making of history kinda of chemistry. She dreams of his depravity but all he is to her is sensuality of a different level.. he might be the devil but in this moment hell seems like heaven. I love this poem, definitely animates love even though we often judge monsters as heartless. I love this song and i've never heard it before.. time to check out some Ludo.. Great poem, Favorited !

no sound at present so can't listen to the song, but the poem holds a macabre fascination; it is both brutal and gentle, an interesting antithesis throughout.
