Dial ToneA Poem by Harlow EveDid you hear me? I said that I miss you. Did you feel that chill down your spine? If you did, it was me, I swear it was me. My breath may be cold but what it whispers holds a volcano of secrets I forgot to share. Did you hear me? I said that I miss you. My lilac lips tremble as they confuse the dirt for the way you used to kiss me. Did you f*****g hear me? I said that I love you. I said it multiple times without stuttering. Did you feel that unexpected wind dance with your skin? If you did, it was me, I swear it was all me. You never did believe that I was the one and that's when I started to believe that colors do drain into oblivion during the first step of heartbreak. I turned transparent to a love that doesn't love me. Did you hear me? Of course not. I'm a ghost to a person who doesn't believe in ghosts. *H. Eve © 2016 Harlow Eve |
