Inner Sorrow

Inner Sorrow

A Poem by Arlen

Everyone at some point reaches the door of depression
Do we keep that feeling a secret or go to confession ?
There's emotions inside us that we keep hidden
Certain subjects are locked up and forbidden
A fake smile of a happy person we tend to borrow
Hiding behind the mask is our own inner sorrow
Trying hard to find ourselves in many different ways
Constantly being told by family it's just a phase
Searching around in life for the answers we seek
But still afraid to be heard and let the heart speak
It's much easier to just run inside and hide
Always trust your instincts to be your guide
Getting tough with no one to really hear
With a great wall up it's hard to get near
Life has become too routine with nothing to really enjoy
A just want to feel that happiness like when I was a little boy

I got into writing poetry at a point in my life where I was really down and depressed as a teenager. As I started to release my creative expression, the more things started to flow for me. I realized .. more..
