ELIXIR OF WILL

A Story by Harry Kriz

Doctor said to Harry, “result is positive, you are diagnosed with blood cancer”. Suddenly he lost his confidence, somehow doctor managed to cool him down. Doctor prescribed some medicines and told him to do chemotherapy.

When he reached home, he saw his friend standing at the entrance. George and Harry are best-friends from childhood. As soon as he saw him, he ran towards him and hugged him. Suddenly tears started dripping from his eyes. George somehow managed to calm him down. He told him not to loose his confidence. “I have lost all my confidence, now death is waiting for me”, said Harry. George lost his control and tears started dripping from his eyes. “I won’t allow you to go, by leaving me behind….we will live and die together”, said George.

On a gloomy evening Harry observed everything through his window. He saw people who are jogging. Birds were tweeting from the branches of nearby trees. Air was warm. The song played by the neighbour was hitting his ears. Suddenly he came to his senses that he was diagnosed with blood cancer. Soon he started weeping like a child.

Meanwhile, George went to see the doctor whom Harry was consulting. He asked doctor about his condition. Doctor said, his disease is curable at some point. There is a chance of fifty-fifty. George asked doctor to call him and say that “we got a new medicine especially for blood cancer, if you take it, chance of curing your cancer is hundred percentage”.

Harry arrived at the clinic and took the medicine. Even doctor gave him more confidence. His will power had been doubled.

Days had passed, he went for another check-up. Doctor told him, “there is nothing to be afraid of, you are free from cancer”. His happiness was limitless. His doctor revealed the truth that “the medicine which I gave you was an ordinary one, only thing that cured you was your willpower”.
