Runner's High

Runner's High

A Poem by The Darkest Silhouette

I went for a two mile run tonight;
You were asleep, I was wide awake;
I ran because it was the only thing left to do;
I ran to get away from my thoughts.

I jogged through country suburbia;
I ran with the horses;
Until I realized that they had been set free;
Then I ran back, because I still wasn't.

On the way back, I didn't think about the way you brush me off;
I didn't think how you make me feel so small;
Didn't feel angry that I wasn't a better man;
I just ran back to you.

On the way back, my lips went numb;
My breaths came hard;
I couldn't help but feel that the world had changed around me;
Then I saw the look on your face, and was disappointed that it hadn't.

I remember being so mad when I read this...[did I review it on myspace?]
Pointless.
I love the imagery, but I hate the concept. Freedom[less]. Because (being self centered) I don't like feeling like the one holding another in chains.
...
And, because I did a concentration titled 'The Freedom Cycle' and coming to the realization that freedom has a way of destroying us, I've come to fear freedom. Adding to that, a song I recently hear has a line in it, one of my favorites now; 'Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose' and I fear that too. I always feel like I need something to hold on to and with nothing left to lose... well, there's nothing left to lose but everything to give.
I hope this makes sense.
I think I'm just ranting for the hell of it because I haven't written anything since my last post on here.
But back to freedom.
I wish you every bit that you desire. And I hope that one day, when you feel and hope the world has changed around you, that maybe it has, and hopefully for the better.
Cheers.
