Abysmal

Abysmal

A Poem by The Darkest Silhouette

Losing the trail, distant

bathing in the sky

a sea of stars

patches of open territory

unexplored, waiting for his claim

it is to much to think

before the midnight campfire

in the open west

smoke rising

prelude to exploration

of uncharted flatland

branching out before him

bringing a tear to his eye

freedom , it is

steel pillars rise

from the smoldering fire

stacks, connecting to a fortress

like mythic cannons

of the open seas

billowing wafts of stream

and then smoke

smoldering into black clouds

that hang like pitch

in the horizon's sky

earth's decay

now i see it

clearly before me

in my ears

is the mechanical

thump and boom

as the factories grow

to blot the moon

and so it is

the end of wilderness

the death of the wild west

the anarchy to end nature's civilization

Wonderful piece. I often compare the decadent Western culture these days to the Fall of the Roman Empire around the time of Caligula. It is not pretty, but we can turn this thing around.

May your words help us to find the path! Great write!
