Ivory

Ivory

A Poem by The Darkest Silhouette

reckless ivory in the theater

protects what they have done

the composer breaks down

particulate charm to excuse malady

insects crawl over the corpse of his innocence

king's pawn, now just a plaything

nothing is his own

it was evident from the start

piano rips through the cords

strong and slow

a dirge to mourn the spiritual death

he awakens, poison in his chest

the chord strikes

pace maddening he careens

madman's path or so he drives

the edge can clearly be seen

fingers crash, tearing up keys

ivory glimmers in the intense candlelight

chords making final sounds

he tears into the wood of the piano with his hands

ripping shreds of wood apart

fingernails deep in enamel

and finally he must collapse on it

the piano takes its final breaths

dead, or so it would seem

..Very powerful, original, and creative..WOW !!! This was truly inspired. It is one of the best pieces I've read on WritersCafe.

This made me think of Jerry Lewis. Playing with such passion and fire that the world become muted and all that exist is this moment when everything around you becomes part of you and your art. Letting go of everything and escaping to the depths of your own creativity. Just like you did here. Very intense scene that this played in my mind's eye. I really enjoyed imaging these words in a scene.

Great Job!!!!!
