No, Captain, No

No, Captain, No

A Poem by Hardcore Charles
"

Being stuck on memories instead of moving on.

"
Times, they change,
they bring the worst pain,
the best joy, is from moving,
from moment to moment,
I often get stuck in between,
with nothing to hold on to,
no anchor or lifeboat,
I sink as a captain this day,
the last words are "remember me as I never was."
They told stories of no more hunger,
the many monsters I slew,
and the empires I've built,
with no question but awe.

I watch from my sunken ship,
breathing in air that is not mine,
I am legend with a different name,
It could have been mine,
but I was spent,
all my change into one thought.
Now I sit broke with nothing to lose,
but I still wait for the right moment,
that is all story and tall waves,
told by the voices I made up,
and the memories that bound me in chains.

I am 18 years old and I have a lot on my mind. Also any poetry I post does not have to be taken a certain way. Poetry to me is how the reader interprets the words even if the writer had something else.. more..
