The Box

The Box

A Poem by Leindor
"

Something I'd written a few years back when asked why I was so positive all of the time.

"

I opened up my closet

In the back

In a box

A bunch of little monsters

Wrapped and bound

Metal locks

The box,

it shook & rattled

Deep inside

Raging battles

I lightly tapped its top

And they went still

They were quiet

Admitting I was tempted

But with will

Left them silent

I leaned away and stood

Demons cried and

Banged the walls

Closing my closet doors

Because I know

Pandora falls

Brittany, This is a very nice piece; you introduce the idea of a box right away, then meander along with clever wordplay to culminate in the introduction of Pandora, of (literary) box fame. A nice introduction to your writing! I will gladly accept your friend request. Nice to meet you. take care...dan

Wow!!!!! My favourite is definatelly the end...excellent! Linking it with mythology adds an almost mysterious quality and with your idea of a box in a wardrobe and laid back writing style you bring fresh air to a traditional conception of the demons inside of us. modern, relaxed and cool, your poem is great and makes a complex task seem efortless! Well done!

Excellent poem...it's very easy to relate to this. I think we all have demons hidden somewhere inside of us; it's just about learning to suppress them in which we learn to live with them.
