Decide

Decide

A Poem by PhiloSophia
"

Pathways and stuff. Get inspired.

"

We live.

We dream.

We study.

This is how a top student aimer's life runs.

We get scolded by our parents for our little mistakes,

We sleep very early,

We have to tuck our eyes on our books,

We even barely go out during weekends!

But we still can't blame them.

I wonder how a normal life looks like.

Going out to the malls during Fridays,

Texting 'till the letters in the keypads are gone,

and even sleeping very late at night!

And now I think.

What if I stop studying,

What if I ruin my life and do nothing.

What if I use drugs and stuffs?

And then all of a sudden,

It came to me.

Life is about deeds.

It's not about planners and lists and to do's and schedules.

It's about doing it.

It is about following your hearts desire

And taking chances.

It is about your dreams and wishes,

The things that keeps you motivated,

Your inspirations,

And your belief.

And here I am,

Shaken. Stunned. Frightened,

Thinking about the future.

What is my future?

My future is death,

Nothing.

But at least, in that death, I had a life.

Hah, your grammar is pardoned. : ) And I liked this poem, too. I used to be the straight-A, athletic, artistic, motivated, perfect little angel. In high school, things took a turn for the worst and I ended up running down that path of "What-Ifs?" that you mentioned in your poem. I lost any interest I once had in school, sports, life... I didn't do any drugs or get drunk on the weekends, but I still managed to get into plenty of trouble and I spent the majority of my high school years grounded. Although life may seem a little boring at times when you're that "child every parent dreams of having", really, it's probably for the best. So stay focused and keep going! You definitely won't regret it later on in your life.
