Memory Tree

Memory Tree

A Poem by Lindsey
"

About a tree planted in my fathers memory

"
When you were gone
we planted a young tree
in memory
and twenty years
from that day
I wonder
how you have grown
Are you a gentle birch
sighing in the breeze
or apple bearing maiden
or larch with golden leaves
Maybe you are a willow
with trailing veils and skirts
or a fragrant pine
or somber elm
or ash with spinning keys
I will return
I’ll come alone
and sit beneath your shade
A tree it is eternal
A poem
not a grave

A most palpable rendering, so emotive and beautifully composed. I find it distressing however, that it has only garnished one review other than mine. Your Dad would be most proud, I am sure!

A lovely and charming tribute, both in terms of the sentiments expressed here; and choice of words.
