Love lost

Love lost

A Poem by Lindsey
"

Lost love

"
Love was lost
like a diamond ring
left on the beach
Love discarded
like a half- eaten
rotten peach
I wish you were awake
and not asleep
My wishes are like ships
lost in the deep

A bit of symbolism helps lift this brief piece of poetry. It has a slight ring of sadness, understandably; as it refers to lost. That diamond ring reference brought two key images to mind, regarding the scarcity of finding true and lasting love; and how people can unthinkingly cast it asunder (for whatever their reasons happen to be). A beach can also be a desolate place, cold and barren; in times of bad weather (another potential metaphor perhaps?).
