"

My fascination with the Tudor is kind of weird.I could shoot facts at you all the way to Elizabeth the first death. So obviously I had to choose the most interesting women Anne Boleyn .

"
The walk of memories
My life for what it was
     I was a daughter,a sister,a mother a wife a queen
                  A daughter with no freewill
A sister put last until I became first
A mother,Oh my Elizabeth I shall miss you most
A wife to a man who wanted a son
A Queen to the people who called me a w***e
     Until Now I am,
A daughter who couldn't be saved
A sister deserted one executed the other exiled
A mother,Oh my Elizabeth I shall miss you most
                  A wife to a king,courting another queen
And a queen who knows that she will die
The last plank is placed on my scaffold
The swordsman awaits me
My feet are brave, my heart a coward
I welcome the mixture of emotion, the last bit of air I shall breathe
The blood in my veins freezes, the ice in my finger tips
Kneeling before the block
Commending my soul
Swoosh
                  I am not a queen
                  no longer a daughter
                  half a sister
forever a mother,Oh Elizabeth I shall miss you the most

What a fascinating write, filled with vivid descriptions and historical wonders. Brilliant expressions that brought Anne to vibrant life with all the emotions and rich textures one would expect of such a woman. Powerful!

A very strong poem. I like how the words move and the story. I don't watch much TV. But you create a very interesting story. I like the ending. There is nothing as important as a mother. A excellent poem.

Having had the opportunity to read a little 'Elizabethan' history, I am familiar with this story.
The author has portrayed a real person in a way that I am sure either queen would have conceded is true and eloquent.
In particular I like the line;
'My feet are brave, my heart a coward.....
I believe that the woman was fundamentally inclined to be 'progressive', but at the same time could not really relate to the world at large in such a fashion as to cause rational behavior, let alone real progress. In reality, these elite were quite insane and incredibly powerful, and had strict rules of etiquette, if you will, that exacted terrible tolls on the constituents.
Ultimately, like all of us, she was dangerous to ?, and found mortal, so she was entrapped, and executed.
Interesting that you remark how;
'I welcome the mixture of emotion..... the last bit of air I shall breathe..'
With these words you paint a person of valor and honor, someone brave and noble, which she was. At least in her paradigm.
Considering the fact that the political and social environment of the elite at that time,( as well as now) was one of terrifying power and evil deception, a game that had predetermined winners, I am sure she did the best she could.
Which ultimately placed her before the block.
If only we all could be that devoted to Anything. Especially knowing the ultimate price, which I am sure our dear Ann could predict.
Well done, Happy.
