Doubtful Hymns

Doubtful Hymns

A Poem by HappyAccident

They say he comes unannounced no invitation, RSVP
A bolt of lightning, a cloud. What will be his entry
In a week, a year, maybe even a century
If he truly exist why won't he tell me

They say he knows all so I think of St. Nick
If he says we're his children why make us all sick
Unconditional love then why do we die
If we're so important convince us me you're not a lie
They say read the Bible, The Word, The Truth
If this is so why isn't Aesop a god he taught us morals too?
Why follow this stranger, this man
What if what's written is just a joke out of hand
They say just believe in what might I ask
He should be in Ripley's book such an impossible task
To know is to love, but to love is to know
When people start to question how far will this charade go
Noah remember never flood the Earth again
Flooding the Earth with terror, fallacious promise.....you sin
The book of Revelation is nothing but contradiction
You love power more than us. A twisted addiction
They say he's real and one day will prove all
Not asking for a visit just shoot me a phone call
If you care so much let us be free
Are you selfish that much that we'll all pay the fee
