A crucible poem

A crucible poem

A Poem by Savannah Gossett
"

A poem I wrote in Junior year for an English assignment

"

My name, my name, my name

         Before I get to that

Who am I more than my name

I am a girl who likes to lie and hurt

I have lied instead of the truth

For my own benefits instead of others

I have hurt those of whom I love

     I am a cheat and a witch

But am I really a witch

I let people believe I'm not

And that others are the witches

They have died  Because of me

Do I feel guilty for lying or to be a cheat

No I only feel remorse for myself

In my eyes I didn't do it

Saying I didn't do it only hurt more people around me

                                  But did I do it

Am I really the witch for lying and cheating

                 So who am I really

My name, my name, my name,

                      My name is Abigail Williams

I am guilty of being a liar and an adulterer

For those of whom I love and have hurt

I am Abigail Williams the real witch of Salem
