Burning Rose

Burning Rose

A Poem by Jared Michael Smith
"

This is really more of an experiment than anything. I tried a new style and worked a lot with juxtaposition. Hope it sounds ok. :)

"
Sickly sweet and
Burning,
The fires of hate
Consume it,
Engulf it in the heat
Of betrayal,
Igniting the hearty petals
Into nothing
More than
Bitter smoke and
Dust.
And the weight,
The burden of it all
Snaps the rose from
Its bush,
Until only a charred,
Blackened stem remains.
