Echo

Echo

A Poem by Jared Michael Smith
"

Nothing much to say here.

"
Reverberate,
The sounds and cries
Of life on the walls
As I chase them.

The words are stuck,
Mixing evermore in
The dreary darkness
Of the cave.

I run back and forth,
Looking for the source,
The echoes growing
Louder and louder.

I turn the corner,
About to find them,
When I stop cold
And stare before me.

Water drips down
in every corner,
Filling the cave
With echoing sound.

Another drop
In the gathering
Pool joins me to
Its murky depths.

Well, I'm happy you were able to find something in my madness. :D And I'm happy you could "feel" my poem; that's my overall goal with my poetry. I want the audience to not simply read words on the paper; I want them to see the images all around them and feel the emotions in their very skin. Anyways, thanks for the review!

I think you did! The message that I got out of this was the life is the cave walls, and the darkness of the cave is death. The water droplets are the people, and when the water droplets fall and gather into a pool, that also represents death. The man in the cave is searching for the meaning of life through the darkness as he sees all of the drops of water falling into never ending pools. That's what I took away from this, anyways. Good write, I loved the overall feel of this poem.
