The Broken MirrorA Poem by BoldpenSometimes, the most important lessons are learned through least important things
I stood in the room, wounded by time,
sunk in my cries, sunk in my sorrow struck by deep misery, trembling alone feeling so hollow, feeling so low I marked deep, I promised my self "Will never dare to dream now, we live in a power driven hell to this worldly rule, I shall bow." Then, Myself, I saw in a mirror, The reaction came, at a fast pace filled with anger, hate, agitation I clouted it with a steel case CRASH!, fell the glittering mirror A wonder on wall, now in pieces many A viewer of smile, a witness of tears Truthful and just, be cloudy or sunny Ah! That mirror, I loved by heart I felt, it was like my crushed soul Broken by world, broken by failure better be broken than struggling as whole. But then, again, I saw my face on shattered shards fell my gaze A wave of dismay shook my form, It's just a reflector, nothing to amaze Then, a sudden realization came, It's beauty frame, was now gone deformed, it laid scattered on floor Yet, the mirror reflected on. And yet, the mirror reflected on, Crushed, destroyed but still in task holding the job, beyond its end my mind asked my conscience mask "This lifeless being, never gave up you at least, have breath and heart when hanging on, is nature's law how can you abandon your art?" So, smiling a painless laugh I picked the parts of the broken sage who gave me a lesson, very wise lesson which never changed with age And on that day, a moral was earned a moral on which all lives sing I was taught, the secret of life I was fixed by that broken thing. © 2011 BoldpenAuthor's Note
