Why I Write?

Why I Write?

A Poem by Boldpen
"

This is the answer to many people who often ask me, why I even write when I know I'n not good at it.

"

I am asked, why I write,

though I can never be

in striking,  glittering spotlight

or in books of history.

Alas, they cannot understand

No fame nor glory drive my pen

But an aim to satisfy

Self and reading kind of men.

And the thrill caused by words,

Or addiction to the rhyme

The need to live by the heart

The untold tales beyond the time

The fact that , my dream remains,

Now in the reader’s mind

The happiness found, peace attained

Where else in the world I’ll find?

Why I write, as they ask

My reply shall always be

Like a rain drop, ignite life

Single phrase can set soul free

this poem rose from a real life situation in which a friend of mine greatly stated that I had no future as author and should quit it.

It's difficult for people with different interests and skills to understand one another and the reasons they'd find worthy in order to pursue their interests. But, often they do have a more realistic (more objective in any case) view on the future possibilities. There may be hard words in the message your friend carries, but he/she means to tell that pursuing a professional career as a writer is challenging in the least which can result in an uncertain future situation. Yet, this poem clearly explains that your reason for writing is mostly for the joy it brings to your heart. The ability to spread happines around you and make the world a little lighter. Those are wonderful words to say, wonderful words to be proud of! Thank you.
