Understand/Accept/Respect.

Understanding.

 

Acceptance.

 

Two different things, my friend.

 

I'll admit, they do go together quite well at times. Surely, if you understand something, you can accept it?

 

NO.

 

I'm afraid it's not that simple. You can't really control your understanding; you get it or you don't.

 

You have total control over your acceptance, though.

 

Wouldn't the world be a much better place if people stopped denying and started accepting? I'm not going to say that I accept everything all the time, because I don't; I'm not perfect. But wouldn't it be so much better if we did? There'd be no war. No arguments. I'm sure people would be happier.

 

If we all accepted what each other said, then where would truth and opinion begin and end? What would be truth, what wouldn't be? If someone said that the sky is orange, then we'd all accept that and go, yeah, sure. The sky's orange. Look at it! In all it's orange glory.

 

Maybe it's not so much acceptance. Imagine a world where truth is changed just like that, because no-one rejects what's been said.

 

It must be more accepting what others believe, and respecting it. Yes, that must be it.

 

If you and I accepted someone elses point of view, regardless of our own, the world would cease to be interesting, and probably cease to function. If we respect what they say instead, we can still have our own opinion and not go changing the truth.

 

I'm sure most people respect. It's just, why is it always the ones who have the power then start the arguments? Apply that idea to every situation with an argument. I'm sure you'll find it's true. Powerful people start the arguments.

 

It's time we ended them.
