I Forgive You

I forgive you for leaving me, because it allowed me to be strong on my own.
I forgive you for forgetting about me, because it forced me to remember myself.
I forgive you for touching me, because it helped me understand what a loving touch is supposed to feel like.
I forgive you for making me feel unsafe, because it made others work to gain my trust.
I forgive you for ignoring what I said, because I realized I was ignoring myself too.
I forgive you for making me hate myself, because I got to find love through others.
I forgive you for making me feel weak, because I now know I am much stronger with others.
I forgive you for making me feel alone, because it taught me how to be alone and okay.
I forgive you for making me want to die, because now I know what it's like to live.
I forgive you for raping me- or at least I'm trying to.

it will take a strong person to admit that there is abuse in his/her life. with the many people I have counseled through the years I thought I had heard it all, I just want to say thank you for being strong, to have the courage to come forth and even forgive the person who had destroyed your life. Stay strong.
