If I Knew Who You Were..

If I Knew Who You Were..

A Poem by Michelle
"

I'm struggling with this right now, and I needed somewhere to put this, just so that someone knows what's going on.

"
If I knew who you were
maybe I could hate you, and not myself.
If I knew who you were
I could ask you why me.
If I knew who you were, and I could put a face to the act
I could stay away from boys like you.

But I don't know who you are
and I only have myself to blame.
I don't know who you are
and I can't figure out why me.
I don't know who you are
and all I can do is avoid everyone to keep myself protected.

I have to hide, and you get to continue.
I want to die, and you get to live.
I have all this shame, and you get to brag about your "conquest."
I am trapped, and you are loose on society.
Somehow, your actions chained me up, and left you free.

If I knew who you were
I could maybe move on.
If I knew who you were
I could stop cutting myself to keep boys like you away from me.
If I knew who you were
maybe I could move on
If I knew who you were
maybe I could want you dead instead of me.
