Oh, you have written something here straight from the heart, and that is a beautiful thing. This is a tough stage of life for a girl, I KNOW, and I want you to know you have so much more to offer than you think. Take this time to grow and learn, to find what YOU really like, what YOU really need, who YOU really are and the rest will come, and much more easily so. Good poem... Thank you for sharing with us..

This is so sad! There are so many heartbreaking factors in this. The unknown and what another person thinks of us is so scary but sometimes how we perceive ourselves is the worst. I agree with Misty you've got so much to offer and if someone else doesn't think so...then oh well! You will just get to someone who does deserve you that much sooner. Great write though hun!

Thank you so much, courtney. I really appreciate it.
I find it interesting to put myself in these shoes, which you have painted nicely here with words . . . being awed by someone's looks . . . I remember feeling this way long ago, but it seems more often nowadays we meet people without seeing them, so maybe this makes approaching someone less intimidating!?!?! Anyhow, the insecurities expressed in your poem are felt by everyone, when we focus on the outside of the package. Very true-to-life & relatable.

Thank you for reading. I'm glad you could imagine what it's like.
This is really beautiful. The questions effective, which can be difficult to do.
I would encourage you to really rethink the last line. Learn what you bring, so others will see it clearly to.

I loved the imagery right off the bat. You know how much I like imagery because it paints a story in my mind and it makes it easier for me and other readers like me to comprehend the story. Great job once again! 100 as usual
I think it's a wonderful piece, a relatable concept which is true in most of our lives... The message is quite amazing as you have expressed the condition of a heart which is in conflict of whether to express itself to the person or not... It's a condition which is really hard to handle really, I have been there... The poem relates to the infinite truth of human heart...
Sincerely
Dhiman

Thank you very much for reading, Dhiman. I'm glad you enjoyed.
A poem of searching for acceptance and self confidence. Perhaps putting the other person on a pedestal. Feeling inadequate compared to person you are longing to be with. Seeing their strong points while not giving yourself credit for your own offerings. Your poem gives this message to me. It is written well and and I felt what you were trying to say.

Hi! I've just returned here after years away. I'm a 23 year old bookstore worker trying to reconnect with her poetic side.
